in my contemporary reading era
This is a super super light read, and if you have read Lynn Painter’s work before you’ll definitely know that her writing has an airy-ness in it. It can easily be a travel companion and refreshing read. I got it for ₹290 in the sale. And I think it is worth the money. Packaging was good.

A cute cute love story
A cute cute love story.. Just finished this one and to be very honest it's not like something you never read but it was everything you wanted to happen. One night stand to best friend to fake dating to lovers . Usually I'm a fan of enemy to lover trope . Still this book has its own taste. The story is basically a bar tender name Hallie and Jake Marshall the architect had one night stand. Then they found each other in a dating app and became best friends. Both are looking for a soulmate they even had a bet who found soulmate Frist . But life has different plans you know but in the last moment Hallie lost her date to bring at her sister's wedding and you know Jake he offered to be her fake boyfriend and then like all the great love stories they had an amazing time . The end was so dreamy I mean it was predictable but I didn't imagine the rain and the Darcy quote 🥺 the ending is still in mind . For a moment I forgot I was reading. All the fake dating parts remind me of "The Spanish Love Deception" by Elena Armas . One thing that I like in book is when they put the text conversation this book has a lots .

Added to my comfort reads
The Love Wager is the story of Hallie and Jack, their journey from strangers to friends to lovers. They are sure there can be nothing between them after the stint they had at Jack's sister's wedding. When Hallie logs into a dating app to find love and reset her life, she matches with Jack. They join forces and become each other's wing-person but as it's said, you can't run away from love, it always finds you. When Colin said, "I took her to Barnes and Noble, so she's in bookish heaven at the moment. She probably doesn't even care about the foot anymore." I wished to be Liv 😉 Lynn Painter always comes up with some comfort characters every reader can relate to and finds some parts of them in those. This book is another addition by Lynn to my list of comfort reads. I love how she writes fluently, absorbing a reader completely into the book that it becomes their story too. The characters are well written and developed. The story moves at a steady pace giving you the comfort to bask it all in. I just loved this book and obviously Jack and Hallie. If you are a romance lover, pick this book without any doubt.

we get a sweet escape from reality into the complicated and fuzzy feelings of love and friendship.
Pages - 320 Genre - Fiction [Romance (Contemporary/Adult)] Jake and Hallie meet accidentally after a horrible mishap to have a fling that turns into an unexpected friendship which further changes into a challenge, a wager, “Whoever gets into a deep, romantic relationship first, wins.” But what Hallie and Jake don’t see coming is a wave of feelings they don’t recognise or understand, till it’s a little too late. The Love Wager by Lynn Painter is a story of wild sparks between friends fuelled by challenges and close proximity. While Halie is cute, honest and smart with a good heart, Jack is warm and impulsive, with a good heart. With this easy to read, beginner friendly romance, we get a sweet escape from reality into the complicated and fuzzy feelings of love and friendship. I constantly had one hand closing my mouth after numerous gasps. I was blushing the entire time I was reading it as I flew through the book. It contains a little bit of spice which isn’t very graphic. If you are looking for a friends-to-lovers romance to have a good time blushing and giggling, don’t miss this book! PS. It is the second part of Mr. Wrong Number by Lynn Painter but it can be read as a stand alone. Jack is the brother of the female protagonist Olivia from Mr. Wrong Number.

Lynn's books can never go wrong!!
I can just devour Lynn's books pretty fast and she never fails to make me fall in love with the characters and the story. The Love wager being Jack's love story who is the brother of Olive in #mrrightnumber I've one question for Lynn. Where do these people exist and how can I contact them? Like how can she create the bestest of people who are funny and also look hot!!! Where do I sign-up? So Jack and Hallie had a drunken one night stand and meets each other in a dating app and becomes friends super quick. They have a good genuine friendship but also flirt via texts. They help each other find their true love. But Jack starts to have actual feelings for her but he doesn't want to risk their friendship. So when an opportunity to fake date appears, he jumps in immediately and the steam mode turns on!! I think this has more spice than her other 2 adult books. Both the characters are sweet but the chemistry goes off the chart.❤️🔥 A mini miscommunication in the end but it's super mini. So I'm not considering that! . This has hookups to friends to fake dates to lovers with one bed trope added and have more romance references, us readers would dig for. P.s There are some cute cats involved. . Lynn's books are hilarious and romantic and she really makes the rom and com work in rom-com.

easy, fun and entertaining😍 feels like 2000’ romcom
I had a great time reading this book, it was fun and easygoing, full of small swoon worthy moments and longing and my favorite best friends trope. Definitely recommend reading this book if you want to get a good 2000’ romcom feeling ❤️ PS: Smut is barely there, more poetic than real description of anything, so quite safe for ya imho

Lighthearted fun read
📚BOOK REVIEW 📚 The Love Wager - Lynn Painter This book was a follow up to Mr Wrong Number but I didn't realise that when I went into this book. It didn't affect my enjoyment of the book and it was ok to read as a standalone, but I will go back and read Mr Wrong Number. I'm definately in my romance era at the moment and I'm managing to read a lot of books which have been on my to read list for ages. I really loved this book. It was a lot of fun and both the characters just gelled so well. I love a lot of the tropes in this one and I've not read a "Friends to lovers" for awhile. Hallie and Jack meet at Jack's sister's wedding and end up having a drunken one night stand. As they are both keen to get on the dating scene they are shocked to find each other on a dating app. They strike up a friendship and make a bet on who can find their perfect partner first. As they go on the dating scene they keep each other up to date on their progress, often rescuing each other from potential disasters. Hallie finds herself without a date and needing to attend her sisters wedding. Jack offers to step in and be her fake boyfriend but how much of it is really fake? As lines become blurred can they work out what their true feelings are for each other? I loved this book. The chemistry was off the scales. And the banter and dialogue between the two was hilarious at times and their friendship was truly lovely to read as it progressed into more. I finished this book feeling so full and I just didn't want it to end. I really enjoyed it so much. It made my heart happy.

I LOVED this book so much!
This was my first book by Lynn Painter and I'm so excited to get through her backlist! I don't know why I waited this long to read a book by her, honestly! The BANTER was top-tier! I cackled and giggled so much while reading this! The text conversations were hilarious! I loved how Jack and Hallie became such close friends, at first trying to help each other find love, only to realise that what they were looking for was right in front of them! And the fake dating! At a wedding! I'm such a fan of the fake dating trope, and I was served with this book!

Such a fun read with all the best tropes!
This is it, the turning point. Something has to change because this is rock bottom crawling out of a hotel room after a one night stand. Hallie’s determined to find love so she sets up an online dating account and who does she find, Jack. They make a deal to be dating buddies, helping each other escape terrible dates. And the one who finds love first wins. Everything is well and good until Hallie brings Jack as her (fake) boyfriend to a wedding where lines are blurred and crossed. Love everything about this!! It’s funny, light and reads really well. It reminds me a bit of Josh + Hazels guide to not dating along with TSLD, just add in a one night stand. Which is high praise because I absolutely love those books. This is definitely one of those books you can get lost in, I couldn’t put it down when I actually got into it. Dating buddies really needs to be a trope in itself because it always works imo. The dual pov makes it even better. I also really like the text messages, they’re really funny and a bit flirty to. There is a bit of miscommunication, or just suppressing of emotions but it’s minor. Personally I didn’t mind it. And I also want to mention that this is the second book in the Mr wrong number series. I have not read the first one yet (don’t come for me) but they can be read as standalone. But I’ll definitely go back and read the first one now!
