A versatile clamp that's ideal for custom camera rigs
I bought this for my Sony FX30 rig, although not for its intended purpose. Rather than mounting a traditional rod accessory, I'm using it together with the LiDAR mount from a Nitze N10D to mount my DJI Focus Pro LiDAR directly onto my SmallRig HawkLock cage.The clamp is exceptionally well machined and feels incredibly solid for such a compact component. Once tightened onto the rod, there's no movement at all, giving me complete confidence that the LiDAR will stay exactly where I've positioned it, even when moving between handheld, tripod and gimbal work.What impressed me most is how much flexibility this little clamp adds when you're building a custom rig. It allowed me to create a clean, low-profile LiDAR mount using readily available components, rather than having to wait for a dedicated solution. Because it uses the standard 15mm rod format, it's also easy to reposition or adapt if my setup changes in the future.My FX30 rig has gradually grown to include a SmallRig HawkLock cage, top handle, 15mm rod baseplate, V-mount power system and DJI Focus Pro, and this clamp fits seamlessly into that ecosystem. Like the rest of the SmallRig hardware I own, the machining and finish are excellent.This isn't the sort of accessory most people will notice when looking at a finished rig, but it's often these small components that make custom builds possible. If you enjoy configuring your own camera setup rather than buying off-the-shelf solutions, it's an incredibly useful piece of kit to have in your parts box.
