Excellent seasoning!
I've been using Vegeta for years and it adds great flavor to soups, stews, roasted vegetables, meat, and even rice. The 70 oz bag is an excellent value and lasts a long time. The taste is consistent, and a little goes a long way. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys cooking!

A tasty and inexpensive vegetable bouillon powder
I was planning to buy Knorr's vegetable bouillon powder at a local store but they were out of stock. I came to Amazon and did a search of "vegetable bouillon powder". I was hoping to find Knorr's vegetable bouillon powder on Amazon that was as cheap as what I would pay at a local store, where it's about 50 cents an ounce. I saw that Vegeta was only 26 cents an ounce if I were to buy the 4 lb 6 oz bag. Most of the reviews for Vegeta were positive so I thought I'd give it a try. With it being half the price of Knorr's vegetable bouillon powder, I had little to lose by trying it and much to gain if it turned out to be good. I bought a bag of Vegeta that weighed 4 pounds and 6 ounces. Shipping was free. The Vegeta was $17.99 and with taxes it came out to $18.86. My package arrived in good condition. I sprinkled a small amount of Vegeta on some hash browns and it was a tasty alternative to salt or seasoned salt. I also tried it as a broth for soup and a flavor enhancer and gravy for boneless pork loin. Depending on how I want to use it, 3/4 to 1 level teaspoon per cup of warm water is ideal. If I want to add flavor to something which will already have plenty of flavor, I'll use the weaker mixture. For example, if I want to enhance the flavor of a boneless pork loin and give it a little more liquid for gravy, I'll add 3/4 level teaspoon to a cup of hot water, stir it until it dissolves and then pour it over a boneless pork loin and cook it in my crock pot. Or if I make potato and leek soup, which calls for vegetable stock, I'll use 1 level teaspoon per cup of water. But if I want a broth for vegetable soup where Vegeta is the main flavoring or the only flavoring, I'll use 1 level teaspoon for each cup of water or 4 level teaspoons per quart. I also used 2 level teaspoons of Vegeta to 2 cups of water to cook 1 cup of rice and the results were very good. Some reviewers have noted that there's a lot of sodium in Vegeta. There is but no more than there is in chicken bouillon powder and there's a simple remedy for that: Use less Vegeta. As I said, 3/4 to 1 level teaspoon of Vegeta per cup of water is ideal for most uses but you can use 1/2 to 3/4 of a level teaspoon instead. I've compared vegetable broth I made with Vegeta to broth I made with Better Than Bouillon and the broth made with Better Than Bouillon was no better than broth made with Vegeta even though Better Than Bouillon is more expensive. Vegeta is a good and inexpensive alternative to other brands of vegetable bouillon powder or cubes.

If you cook you need this.
I've been using VEGETA since the late 1980s. I am never without it and neither is any of my family. This makes EVERYTHING taste better. 5 stars? Nope, a gazillion!!! ๐

Very Good and Versatile Seasoning
I grew up with this seasoning in a Croatian family. My parents always used to use it in soups and other things. I still love this seasoning and introduced it to a number of my friends who are now buying it as well. The product is popular enough here that it is starting to appear in the local grocery stores. However, Amazon has the best price for the quantity you get. The bag is huge and lasts for a really long time especially as a single guy, I use it when cooking vegetables and some custom meat rubs, where I add Vegeta to it with a combination of some other things as well. The seasoning has excellent complimentary properties with many foods, such as soups, vegetables, and chicken. Bottom line: Vegeta is a very versatile seasoning and can be used in many applications, but it will depend on your personal tastes to determine which foods you enjoy it with the most. Since I grew up on this stuff, I tend to use it on the majority of things I cook. The package you get from Amazon is fresh, sealed and packaged well, and is shipped very fast.

Mastering Kitchen Dishes With Vegeta
I am Croatian and my parents used this while I was growing up. Just like them I use this for everything. I use this for goulash, soups, steaks, pork loins, and my children even use this to season popcorn. This bag is a great value for how much you get it is HUGE! It literally lasts such a long time. Anyone that I've met does not even know what vegeta is. I've spread the word about it to whoever would listen friend wise hopefully some of them gave it a try. It's my kitchen go to and I always love the way it makes things so much more flavorful. I put this into a jar next to my stove because I use it in nearly everything. Season everything with this just like some people use hot sauce on everything I use this on everything.

A Culnary Mainstay for those not afraid of sodium in the diet
Although technically a soup mix, I use this as a basic seasoning for a wide variety of dishes. With a complex mixture of herbs and spices it adds more than a dash of MSG. The latter has a very high satiety value and can make lighter fare seem more substantial. Some people are sensitive to MSG, however, so start with a small dose and work up. The high sodium level makes this product inadvisable for many people with hypertension in themselves or their relatives. Typically I use a teaspoon in a family-sized recipe of vegetables, or per quart of water for boiling pasta. For brown rice and dried beans I add Vegeta after they are fully cooked, as the high salt level can seriously retard cooking. A half-teaspoon works well with four to six eggs scrambled. One of my favorite combinations for seasoning almost anything is equal parts of Vegeta and Penzeys Mural of Flavor. Mmmmm.... :-)
