Ascension: Return of the Fallen Game

I have to chime in.The base set is a fantastic game, when I got this expansion and played it without the base set, it was fantastic as well, it may be even more fun, but I cannot tell if it is the newness or it truly is more fun. Combining the cards is even better then both individual games. Mechanics of the game are enhanced with the new expansion, new strategies appear the more you play, I cannot say enough good things about this game. If you want to go back to the original or the expansion alone, the cards are easy to tell apart so you can easily sift out the expansion cards from the base set. Yes the cards are different quality and yes you can tell new from old, but I honestly have not been able to ascertain whether this matters one bit to gameplay. I see a lot of reviews ripping the game for this alone, but wow, this is such a minor nitpick, give the company a break, they put out an awesome game, then give us a well needed expansion at a very reasonable price.Expansion is great, get it, you will enjoy it if you enjoy the base set, its as simple as that.

I love Ascension and I am a big defender of its depth and the quality of the strategy, especially when compared to a game like Magic, which play out way to random for me.With that said, I found this expansion to be a great addition to the core game, providing even more player interaction. The new 8 rune cards are well balanced in that their aren't game breaking, but a serious carrot for both players providing a fun, frenzied excitement to pick them up.This game doesn't have the very useful cardboard playing board that the original does and the box is a bit small to adequately store all the cards so I wouldn't buy this is a standalone option (although it will work well as such) and instead pair it with the core game. It is an expansion and don't let the star rating for the game represent the quality of the gameplay. It's one thing that can frustrate me about Amazon, someone gets something that doesn't meet their expectation in some trivial way, and then the product is lambasted and it weighs down its score.This does make the core game more fun, and if you liked the core game, you will definitely enjoy this expansion.

A must have expansion pack if you own the base game of Ascension! It makes the base game that much better. If you have other sets of Ascension, then you only need this if you're a completionist or just a massive fan of Ascension (like me!). But, HURRY! There are constant rumors that the small pack expansions may not get reprinted in the near future!

I enjoy all of the new things this expansion set brings to Ascension! I was hooked by my cousins and now I've got the boy I Nanny hooked! Can't wait to get more! It came within the two day prime shipping timeframe and was packaged neatly in the box with cushion pillows. The graphics on both the box and the cards are stunning! They are different from the original. It does have its own board and honor as well. Definitely recommend to any ascension fan!

I've had a really positive response from everyone I've introduced to Ascension. RotF was actually my first box of the series, though I've added a couple more for variety and repeat play value. While it is more chaotic than other deck-builders I play (Star Realms, primarily), it's still very fun and broadly appealing.I've played only once with a full complement of 6 people, and don't recommend it unless they're all familiar with the rules and have at least an hour and a half, should the game run long.

This is an alright expansion. I started with the Dreamscape base set and the "fate" function doesn't add much to the dynamic of the game. If you are looking for a refreshing addition to your base set, keep moving. If you just want some spice in the mix, this expansion is for you.

Bought this with the core set and the Legion box with sleeves. The power and utility of the cards in this expansion make it a no-brainer if you have the core set. Nothing like watching your friends' faces when you snag Samael the Fallen or Adayu the Chosen, and Hectic Scribe and Arha Sensei are invaluable tools for refining your deck as the game goes on.

Great expansion for a great game. It's one of the very few games that all my kids will play. Note that this expansion can be played by itself by 1-2 players. You will need the main game, Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer to play with 3-6 players. So far, we've played games with 2-4 and it's been great. The new cards add a bit more depth and variety.

Helps stretch games out longer. Some epic cards in here. Worth it!
