I swiped it across the surfaces (and yes it took several passes and some effort) but all of the pet hair was gathered into one spot which I could then just pick up with my fingers or use the vacuum hose to just suck up. It is gentle on the fabric, and very effective. I will purchase again because it was awesome in my shower as a squeegee for the tile and glass walls, worked great, is durable, does not collect mold as it dries and is very easy to hand from a small command hook in my shower A+ rating for me.
