Good suction! Sturdy
***4 months later*** Its been 4 months of bi-weekly vacuuming 3 carpeted floors and it is holding up great! I haven't even had to change the bag yet, the indicator doesn't even show it as half full, this I'm very impressed by considering non-bagged vacuums have to be emptied seemingly every time you use it. And the brushroll has really impressed me, I have long hair and shed and haven't had to cut a single hair off the brush roller! Only thing it doesn't cut through is my cotton polyester sewing thread which is an endorsement for the thread lol. But seriously the brush roll is pristine no hair tangles at all! I'm thinking of buying a couple more just to have one on each floor and it would probably end up costing less than so called high end models. Totally Recommend.*** Great suction! Just ordered and got this last night, I ran it over two of my fully carpeted floors and it did a wonderful job picking up debris and leaving them nice and clean. I really like it so far and am looking forward to seeing how much I can vacuum without having to change the bag, that's always the downside of a no bag vacuum is emptying them basically has to be done outside and often, it also means you clean the filter more often so i find them more high maintenance. I have a 3 story house with mostly carpets throughout so most of these stick type vacuums just wont do the job for me, forget about robot vacuums, but dragging around a cannister or an full upright is a real pain. I really enjoy the lift away part of this vacuum for doing the stairs for that reason. I know some have mentioned that the path or the main brush roll size seems smaller not as wide an area than normal vacuums but i prefer it, i have lots of carpet but i also live in a house built in 1970 so there's lots of odd little corners that are hard to get into but not with this one. I especially like the upholstery attachment is wider than most and the detachable wand, as noted i have a funky house from the 70's and my stair steps are quite narrow and thin, I've only ever found the upholstery attachment will do a proper job on the stairs, it takes some elbow grease more than a motorized attachment or the main brush roll but it actually cleans it better, so I'm quite glad the attachment is narrow enough but a little wider than usual for the job. It certainly looks a little less than sturdy, more like a toy, than compared to brands like dyson and what not but i have so far found it very sturdy and not cheap as it looks. I have a very fluffy cat and this thing picked up all her fur, haven't tested the so called no tangle brush roll out yet - i have long hair that sheds - and thats always a pain to clean, I was looking into a vacuum that has an easy to take out and clean brush roll but they are out of my budget so im hoping this one holds up will with a bit of trimming occasionally. Overall I am happy with this purchase, it suits my strange but almost entirely carpeted house and the limitations of trying to clean it.

Great vacuum
I love this vacuum. Wasn't thrilled about the color and the silver trim was concerning for me. I pictured the silver peeling off. I've had this vacuum for a couple of years and it still looks good. No peeling. The suction is great and it swivels so easily. It's light weight and the canister can be removed for carrying when vacuuming stairs. The electric cord is long. My only issue is I wish the wand had a longer reach or at least extendable. Replacing the bag is so easy you just release it over the trash bin. Never have to touch it. I have dogs and it picks up their hair very well. The front light is good and bright and I haven't experienced any clogging yet. I love my Kenmore's. I have another older Kenmore vacuum for my downstairs. I think they are well made and last a long time.

If you have cats, you know pet hair somehow ends up everywhere...
If you have cats, you know pet hair somehow ends up everywhere. I appreciate that, with things like cat litter and cat food, this vacuum actually moves over it and sucks it up rather than merely blowing it all around. As someone with hardwood and carpet, this vacuum transitions nicely. Use the brushroll for carpet and simply push a button to turn the brushroll off for wood. Yes, this vacuum is a BAGGED upright and yes, it is CORDED, however, this is not an issue for me. The cord is long - long enough to go up & down stairs without unplugging and the no-touch bag system means no more clouds of dust and fur when emptying it. The vacuum is lightweight, swivels easily and has a brushroll that automatically removes wrapped pet hair. Yeah! No more cutting tangled hair and fur away with scissors! Thanks Kenmore!

Great suction, not without some flaws
I've owned a few of these over the years. They have great suction, amazing maneuverability, light weight, and are versatile. I've used many vacuums over the years and I keep going back to Kenmore. From my experience these have better suction than Shark vacuums and the fact that you have a bag instead of a canister to empty makes them cleaner. I've used Dyson in the past as well and I prefer Kenmore. However, the neck breaks easily and the hose from the body to the head in the back of the machine splits easily. They are easy to clear when plugged and are great for homes with pets. Kenmore customer service tends to be hit or miss and replacement parts that are covered under warranty are on several months back order. They give you the option of cutting the cord and jumping through hoops to get a replacement vacuum, which I don't see the point of doing when the motor is still great and it's just cheap parts that have broken. It seems really wasteful to render a machine inoperable when it just needs a replacement part. It is a cheap vacuum and if gently handled it'll last longer and you'll just have to replace hoses. However, Kenmore also doesn't stock replacement parts for this vacuum. I'm giving a 4 because of the great suction which I would rate a 5, cord length, weight, maneuverability and bag capacity. However, because of these other factors I have to mark it lower. Customer service is a 3, and durability is also a 3.

New Eliminator brush roll makes a difference with dogs and bunny!
7-month update: I did have to clean the brush roll on the Rose vacuum once last week. It's the hair-shedding season and I delayed grooming the Goldens too long. But removing the hair was much easier with the channel that allows the scissors under the hair. Also, for those who complain that they are going through bags quickly when they first get this vacuum, understand that your old vacuum was not cleaning your house properly so this vacuum has to play catch up and you will use more bags in the beginning. It should level out once your house is properly cleaned. The bags hold a lot of debris and are full each time I replace them. Much more efficient than the canister vacuum I had which left half the bag empty. Full disclosure I am a multiple vacuum owner. I have a Miele upright(over 10 yrs.), a Kenmore canister(over 13 yrs.), and a Samsung Jet90 with the auto clean station for quick pickups. I don't like carrying vacuums up and down the stairs. This new vacuum is replacing the Kenmore canister. I have had the green BU4022 model for over a year. It works excellently being easy to maneuver and the lift-off feature is handy, but the brush roll fills with hair and is not easy to clean. I did clean it just before taking the picture. It has a green brush. I received the Rose BU4050 yesterday and the features are all the same except for the brush roll bar. This does not collect hair as the other one does. You can see in my picture the new vacuum has channels on the brush roll. If the performance changes with more use I will update my review. A few things you might want to know about both models: 1) You have to remove the power cord from the side to remove the canister from the base or to be able to use the attachments with the handle/hose. The cord hooks are near the top of the handle and at the bottom of the canister unit. This is a design flaw in my opinion. They could have put both hooks on the canister. 2) The brush roll stops in the upright position without pushing the button. 3) The vacuum is easy to maneuver, but it will not fit under a standard-height bed. 4) NO issues with the hose coming apart from the green vacuum that I have had for over a year. 5) The suction power on both is fantastic, they will lift my area rugs. You can adjust this with the vent door on the handle. 6) The attachments are standard in quality and functionality. There are two attachment holders on the back of the canister, but the attachments tend to fall off. 7) The hands-free bag disposal is fine, the bags are nice and help to keep the dirt sealed in the vacuum which keeps the air cleaner. 8) Someone asked about the air vents on the front. They are for the Hepa filter. Just pull out from the bottom to remove the cover. See photos. 9) You can also purchase an extension wand from Kenmore. The handle wand does not extend. It is 30 inches measured from the disconnection point at the handle. The handle is 8 inches from the grip to the wand connection point. So it gives you about 38 inches of reach without an extra extension piece. I gave this 5 stars because it does clean well, it's light weight and uses bags. With three dogs (two are Goldens), and a house bunny, my vacuums get a workout. If you have long-haired dogs or humans get the BU4050. Who cares about the color if your house gets clean and you don't have to constantly clean the brush roll? Both were purchased with my own money, my only bias is that I still like vacuums that use bags.
