Hi there. This product stays in your hair. It is thick so you only need a small amount. For example: I have a short afro with tight curls. I use a dab (about 1/2 size of a dime) Cantu Activator and mix well with Cantu Leave-in Avocado Conditioner (amt varies) for entire head, then style. Hope this helps.
