For what this little reel is, I know it's a copy of the Shimano stratic but that's not why I'm here. I fish for fun. But also I bought this fishing reel as a joke and it actually proved me wrong. It's only been a week. It's not the best. It's not the worst but it gets the job done. I wish that you guys would take that anti-reverse off of this real. For the value it is great it fits any spinning rod and it catches a lot of fish and gets the job done. As far as durability, the paint chips very easily as far as the dry drag, it works very well. Just make sure that you keep it clean and give it a little rinse each use and I should last.

I was looking for a cheap beater reel that I could let rookies use when fishing with me inshore. They always seem to get them wet and or dunked. Also I needed one that I could get splashed in occasional surf fishing. This reel is gorgeous and feels great. My son thought it felt like a 200 dollar reel. This reel won’t do the job because the main bearing-the one that holds the rotating rotor has does not have a seal. There is one around the small diameter shaft that oscillates up and down but not between the rotating shaft for the rotor and the reel housing. There are seals in other places but the bearing that goes bad and causes the grinding is this one. Walmart has a reel that is in this price range with this seal. Barrier II. I had this reel and it took said punishment for 3 years but my sons friend lost it to the sea with a yak tip event. That reel has a square bail section where it connects to the line roller that needs to be curved to avoid occasional tangling. Wish I could have had them both with this reel!!!

So far so good, I purchased this reel with the attitude what do I have to loose. If it was cheaply made I would send it back. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and very happy with the looks, feel and smooth operation of the crank, bail, and drag. Ive spoiled up some 35 lb braid and have been shore fishing with it probably 5 times. The reel works as expected and lookd good doing it. Cant beat the price I say grab one or two before there gone.

This reel is way better than expected for the price. I needed a red for my light action setup. I’ve already caught several fish and think the drag is exceptional, the reel is ultra smooth and the overall feel is top quality. I fish primarily in salt water and rinse the red after use. We’ll see how it holds up with proper maintenance. Also, I messaged the seller with a question and they responded immediately. They offered to replace the unit if I wasn’t happy with it. I’m happy with it and just had a general question which they answered. Even the customer support is better than expected.

I have been looking at saltwater reels for some time now and the cost is really above affordability! Yes, Penn is a workhorse and Shamino & Diawa are the sports cars but they are price that way. The average person is watching their spending and this reel had everything you should have for a saltwater reel, including the price. I was a bit skeptical at first but I could not match the stats for the price. I knew when I opened the box I had a winner, it was hearty but not heavy for a 5000 reel. The handle screwed in and was solid, it spun like reels costing 5 or 6 times this much. So I loaded it with braid and took it out fishing today. WOW!! Casts like a dream and feels as good as anything on the market. I am telling you now you better grab some before they go up. I will buy these from now on! I can buy 4 of these for the price of 1 Penn! Don’t forget this is saltwater sealed with stainless steel bearings!

Its really not bad for the money . Ive used it a few times out on the boat now. Its done well with the saltwater. I figured it would be toast after 1 time. Nope still smooth even the drag is smooth . Cast well

Nice, smooth reel. Retrieve ratio is a little slow for lure fishing. It makes a great bait and wait reel.
