Effective automobile repellant!!!
I saw another review on another site about this light that at first was not impressed because the flashing light settings were "just irritating" and, he thought, unnecessary. Then he tested it in actual use on a bike ride and changed his opinion, was impressed how not a single car cut too close and most moved further over in their lane, giving him extra room and safety. And I gotta agree: The light is so bright that, day or night, I mostly use the Group Bike Ride setting, which is plenty bright, automobiles notice me and give room, and yet it is not blinding. Daytime Bide Ride setting IS blinding, so I mostly do not use EXCEPT when competing with the rising or setting sun which is blinding drivers anyway; then the taillight is at least still noticeable (brightness and obnoxious blinking pattern), so that I can still be seen, whereas most taillights on their brightest and flashing will simply be drowned in the light from the sun. If it lasts a sufficiently long time, this is going to be by far the best bicycle taillight I've ever had. With a previous Cateye (the original Rapid 3), I'd already had some police officers stop me to tell me how much they liked the light because of how noticeable I was; they'd be absolutely astounded now. If you bike in or close to traffic, in unprotected bike lanes, etc., at night, or in early morning and at sunset . . . GET THIS LIGHT!!

Hey carback: Got SUNGLASSES??
I mostly ride in the daytime and need something brighter and more attention-getting than the smaller battery-operated unit I have (and is still on the bike; can you HAVE too much rear visibility??). Installation was a breeze with the included hardware and, hooked to the seat post, oriented horizontally to avoid the seat bag and the other rear light, is at the perfect angle. And this sucker is BRIGHT!! I use the Daytime Hyperflash for my day rides and, even with the Sun bright, this is VERY visible!! It has a flash pattern that would be difficult to ignore! My fantasy is seeing the drivers behind me slipping on their sunglasses!! Or they think they are following a two-wheel fire truck! It's that bright! It is rechargeable: I like that. A full charge will apparently last 14 hours in the Hyperflash mode, then will resort to a less attention-grabbing flash as it tells you it needs recharging but still keeps you visible. My rides are 3-4 hours and I'm on ride 3: about 11-12 hours. Still going strong. I recommend the brighter Vis450. Can't be TOO bright, right? Get this light if you want to be SEEN, day or night!! Best I've seen so far, and I have been looking for DECADES!

Works great, but could have a few minor improvements
The actual light itself is great. Nice and bright, battery lasts forever. There’s two reasons I’m only giving 4 stars. First, it’s micro usb, not type c. It does come with a charger, but it’s literally like 2” long. Luckily I had a longer one in a drawer. And second, the entire light and mount bracket has to come off to charge it. I feel like removing and installing it every day to charge will eventually wear out the rubber strap that goes around the seat post. Tbf, it’s still in good shape after a few weeks of daily riding, so only time will tell

Highly recommend. Very bright, even in daytime
Battery life is great! This sucker is bright and eye catching, especially in the day time. And if you lose the ladder tie, they sell that piece on their website. Vreat, great product. Highly recommend for safety and visibiity.

Quite bright, I like it
Works great, seems as if cars are noticing me on my recumbent trike ( Still have my head on a pivot). Mount is quite good for bicycle seats or other parts of the frame, but the mounting part that has the angle on it for the seat mount is not very applicable for mounting on a recumbent trike.

I am very impressed with this light. Several settings with different flash patterns, one button operation, long lasting on a charge. This think is so bright, you can almost see it 360 degrees at night, just for the amount of light this casts off in almost all directions (see attached video). One setting, I’ll call “flash bang” because it has the same effect on ppl I’m sure. This might be too bright and dazzling!! I’ve pointed mine slightly down, to prevent disorienting the drivers behind me. The clip can be adjusted for this purpose and for different degrees of seat posts out there. Highly recommended and as advertised

Yowser's, it's bright! Particularly during the day when I am most likely to use it. Charges up easy enough same as other cateye products and light lasts a good long time. I had a problem trying to fit this to my pannier rack but Cateye do a good line in brackets so managed to get this done. Can get cheaper but a good light might well save your life when folk can see you better - gotta be honest, the cars avoid me like the plague with this on. NB. I am also a driver so I do appreciate being able to see a bike on the road ahead clearly during the day. Nice and solid construction and easy to use, works same as other Cateye lights.

I have the 300 and the hyper mode isn’t as blinding as everyone says. it’s awesome to use if you want to be seen in daylight conditions. battery life is great. the mount doesn’t fit an aero post that well (it can shift now and then slightly) so i went and got the cateye seat rail mount. now the light is perfect.

I bought two of these, each on a price drop. I use flashing lights on my bikes, back and front, in the daytime on Toronto streets. In the front I use an Olight RN1500 which has a great flash pattern. With delivery guys on heavy e-bikes passing you while looking at their phones, you can’t be too careful.
