We had a set of 7" plates in a floral pattern and most of them have broken so when I saw these I decided to get them. The only thing that bothers me is that the rim is raised and you can't see that in the picture. so if you want to cut something with a knife and fork you hit the rim with your utensils. I guess I will adjust to it. But my husband likes them a lot and they look really beautiful on the table with the blue and white china. Update: I see some users have had a problem with cracking and crazing but so far nothing like that has happened to our set. We have put them in the microwave oven. They go into the dishwasher on an almost daily basis. I just took them out of the cupboard to look at them and there are no marks of any kind. Not even a little chip.
