I bought this kit for my adult daughter some years ago and she loves it. I now bought one for myself to replace some older travel rods that had to be assembled from 6 pieces. The reel is remarkable good quality (12 bearings I believe). The rod is a bit stiffer than I like but basically between a whippy rod and a really stiff rod. This of course is limited due to the segmented construction. The rod is composite fiberglass and the eyelets seem to have some good inserts to protect the line. The semi-rigid case is very nice with plenty of room for accessories. The only thing that can be a bit to get use to is that before assembly, the rod will spontaneously extend to its full length if you just accidentally tilt it down just a little bit. I haven't had the rod on the water yet but hope to take it to Maine in a few weeks to do some stripper fishing.

This is a great starter rod. It's going to be something you upgrade though. The tackle, case, and fishing line that come with this are garbage. The rod and reel are perfectly fine. The case pretty much fell apart after a few trips to a local pond. I believe much of it is manufactured with hot glue. The tackle was all extremely light weight and hard to cast. I was however to catch 30+ trout, bass, catfish, and carp before just choosing to upgrade my setups. So big props there. Can't believe it didn't snap.

Awesome rod for the price. I bought the 8'6" version. I swapped out the reel to a more well known brand, but the rod is stout! I've used it about 10 times now and just a month ago caught a 28" snook from my brother in-law's dock! Could be any more happy with this rod. Great price! I've since bought 2 more in different sizes so I'm prepared for whatever conditions arise.

I used the PLUSINNO Fishing Rod and Reel Combo at Big Bear this past weekend, and it worked great for me. I really liked how easy it was to carry around since the rod is telescopic and doesn’t take up much space. It was simple to set up, felt lightweight, and worked well for casual fishing by the lake. For someone like me who wanted something convenient and beginner-friendly, it did the job nicely. Pros: Easy to carry, lightweight, simple to use, and great for travel or lake fishing. Cons: It may not feel as heavy-duty as a more expensive full-size rod, and the reel may take a little adjusting at first.

This pole is not for anyone that is actually intending to fish. Once extended you only have flex in the last segment of the pole. And it has about as much action and sensitivity as a pool cue. I'm not sure what lure weight/line weight this is intended for, because the markings on the pole seem to be in a format that is not used in the U.S. I would not attempt to use a light line with this. This kit is so bad, I have my doubts as to whether the positive reviews are coming from actual customers. The reel and included line/lures etc. are pure junk. The tiny spool of unmarked line appears to be about 2 lb. test monofilament that is way to light for a rod this stiff, and will not even adequately spool the reel that comes with it. The plastic reel does not look like it will hold up to much use. The retrieve rate is slow, the bail is rough and difficult to close (hallmark of a poor bail spring design), and the whole thing is poorly balanced for the long heavy pole. The lure box comes with some cheap plastic lures that you would never use, a few hooks and some weird sinkers. The kicker is that this "compact" telescope combo is packaged in a zipper case that unnecessarily increases the size of the unit while adding no utility. I received this as a gift and cannot believe what was paid for it. This is basically junk that is several steps below a cheap outfit you might buy at Walmart for $19.99 or less.

Ordered two 2.1m full kits with carrier bag case for ~US $70 each. We were looking for a telescoping rod with case to travel with so we didn’t have to redo the line every time we took a multi-section rod apart. This is our first Plusinno purchase and it was a good price for what we got. The rod felt good in the hand and the lower section is solid. At first glance, the telescoping sections seemed a little chintzy but after using it, it had great action and works extremely well for squid and lighter fish (perch, trout, sand dabs, etc). We like the smooth action of the reel that came with the kit (Plusinno HA3000) and it casts well. The reel seems to be mostly metal instead of mostly plastic, which I prefer. The only problem we saw with the reel is the screw cap that holds the handle on to the reel can come loose. After a month of use my wife’s handle flew off during a cast and I checked my screw cap and it was also loose (probably due to shock and vibration of casting). I contacted customer support to see if they sold spare parts and they sent us replacement parts with no issue. It’s simple enough to check the screw cap once in a while. I might try to put a little of that blue stuff that increases friction on the threads. We haven’t used the lures that came with the kit since we have our own favorites and the fish react differently in different regions. You can find lower priced options that provide exactly what you paid for. The rod and reel we got with this kit will probably last us a while longer than what we might get with many of the lower priced kits. We’re not professional fishing folk and this kit meets all of what we were looking for. The loose handle would have lowered the rating to 4 stars, but the great customer support pushes it up to 5 stars.

Awesome starter rod. Still new to fishing and needed an upgrade from a very beginner rod I started with. Great build quality, feels sturdy, and has had no trouble bringing in a few 12-14 inch bass so far in the weeks I’ve had it, all with the line and baits included. If you’re looking to get into fishing/casual fisher looking for a new rod, this is a great start for the price point. Update: had a week up in north and just caught a two foot pike with this rod and the line they included. Awesome!!
