I bought this cause of a YouTube short by Peter McKinnon. This is beautifully crafted and makes a nice smooth hot cup of coffee, also makes good tea as well. Room temperature water will take about 13-15mins to brew but you can add hot water into the pot to speed the process. If you're OK with the wait its an awesome piece to look at while it brews.

Makes great coffee and everyone love to watch this coffee maker. This elegant and beautiful coffee maker is facinating to watch and is admired at parties. It takes careful handling to clean the hand blown glass goblet. The weak point is the pour spout as it is plastic and will have dificulty finding the closed position. The covers to filter the coffee grinds are necessary and expensive $6.60 for ten, $.66 each. I need a larger package of filters. If I find a cheap source I will write back.

This works great, is attractive, and is a great value for the price. I recommend buying whole beans and grinding them fresh when using this to get the best experience. Don't expect this to make several cups of coffee at once, or in the same amount of time as a "normal" coffee pot. This product is purely for providing aesthetic value to making one delicious cup of coffee at a time. The flavor of the final product is a little weak, but that could just be because we haven't fine-tuned our skills yet. Overall, its affordable, makes a delicious cup of coffee, and is a beautiful object to watch. You'll feel like a steampunk mad-scientist mixed with Sherlock Holmes. The only issue I had has nothing to do with the product itself, but the packaging in which I received it. This was a Christmas gift for my boyfriend, so naturally I wanted it to be a surprise. Wherever this product is packaged and shipping from, the box it comes in needs to be packaged in an amazon package when the buyer indicates that this product is a "gift" (which I did). I understand the motive of less packaging and less waste, but around the holidays many people are requesting items be shipped as gifts in a discreet manner. It came in a box that had a life-sized picture of the product on the sides. I understand that this was probably the box that the product is stored in, however my boyfriend got home before I did the day it arrived and saw his gift 2 weeks before he was supposed to. I feel extremely discouraged, but he was happy and grateful regardless. Just prepare to receive this in an very descriptive and displaying package.

I had one of these years ago and was so happy to see the item here on Amazon. I bought it. It arrived in perfect shape and was packaged better than anything else I have ordered on Amazon. It is stunning and it works beautifully. Just as I remembered, the coffee is incredibly smooth regardless of how strong you make it. A couple of tips: Using warm or hot water will really speed up the process. The inculded filters really aren't needed, but do eliminate what little "silt" will be at the bottom of a cup.

I'm rather impressed with this contraption. The coffee it produces is top notch and once you get your system down, it's surprisingly easy to clean. Nothing on the machine feels cheap or unstable, and you can use it with hard water without having to worry about breaking it.

What a show stopper! Love my new coffee machine! It takes around 15 minutes to make coffee but, worth every minute. The coffee is gorgeous, flavourful and piping hot and the whole process is amazing to watch. Only tiny little problem is that the little handle to pour the coffee gets very hot so have something ready to protect your fingers. I thought this would be a machine to bring out for visitors but, the coffee is so delicious I have it at my bedside. What a wonderful way to wake up. Buy this. I know it's quite expensive but, it's worth every penny.

This is not worth the price. It’s neat, it’s cool, looks pretty, but the valve at the spout and the plug at the top are plastic and melted the second time I used it. Super disappointing. Quality does not match the price.

This is my second review after using it for awhile. A great mechanically automatic vacuum coffee maker. The only regret is that it pours kind of slow which might try your patience. A couple of things about how I prepare it. I boil my water first, it takes took long for it to boil from room temperature. When you do boil it, make sure the alcohol content is at least 70% ethanol otherwise even using boiling water, it may never heat up enough to make coffee. Rubbing alcohol is made from ethanol and can be as high as 95%. I saw one poor review on this with a picture and everything was wrong on how she set it up. Her flame was but a flicker. I mentioned that the filter was sitting at the bottom of the carafe but that is where it should be, my bad. Other than that, the construction is great and as far as I can tell metal except for the seals.
