Ridiculous performer at this price!
I’m definitely no bass-fishing-reel snob. I own numerous spinning and bait casting reels from various brands like Abu Garcia, Lew’s, Kast King, Piscifun, and Cadence, and at prices from $30 to $80. My most expensive “combo” is a $100 Penn Battle 2 spinner mounted to a $180 Shimano Teramar rod. So it goes w/out saying I’m not afraid to buy cheapish rods or reels if they are highly reviewed or from a reputable company. That being said, I was a bit skeptical about what kind of serviceable quality and performance I could possibly get from a sub $20 reel…like this Sougayilang spinning reel. Throwing caution to the wind, I bought the 3000 size spinner and mounted it to a fairly pricey Googan Squad Green Series 7’2 MH rod to use for the first of our few annual trips to one of our favorite “fat-bass” honey holes, a huge, gnarly, secluded swamp, here in NE Georgia. I typically don’t take my more expensive rods and reels to this bass-heavy swamp, because getting there is hard on the body and hard on the fishing gear. There’s a 30-45 minute paddle down a river covered in snags, narrow passes, and fallen trees that require us to get out of our kayaks and pull them over the trees. Several times, on trips to this spot, I’ve tipped my kayak, sending me, my rods, reels, and gear into the river. Once we get to the swamp down river, it’s a knee-deep trek through mud, up a steep bank, pulling our kayaks up the incline and dragging them through brush and briars to our entry point into the swamp. The big bass we catch make the hard work getting there and back worth it, but it’s hard on our gear, no doubt. Anyway, I bought the Souga spinner to use as a cheap reel I didn’t mind dunking, banging, scratching, losing, or breaking in the tough conditions. Long story short, this reel is a ridiculous performer at such a super cheap price! It was my go-to reel on this trip, and I landed more then a half dozen bass between 2-4 lbs with no problems whatsoever! In fact, this reel is incredibly smooth, allowing long casts with nothing but a size 3 bass hook and a Zoom Super Fluke. Never needed to use the drag on the fish I caught, but the reel’s gear ratio and uncanny smoothness made for easy landings of all the bass I caught. Although this reel is a bit on the heavy side, I cannot say enough about my first experience with it and the way it handled those heavy hitting, hard fighting, swamp fatties! I wouldn’t have believed this reel could have performed so amazingly at such a stupid cheap price if I hadn’t proved it for myself. The pictures speak for themselves and how well this dirt cheap Souga spinner performed in a tough environment with even tougher swamp savvy bass. You can be a bass reel snob if you’d like and spend hundreds of dollars on the best equipment, but proof of “value to price” is in the performance and build of a reel and, ultimately, in how many “swamp toads” are in your bass fishing selfies at the end of the day!! DEFINITELY recommend this reel as a dirt cheap, work-horse addition to your fishing repertoire. Rev. Brown Monroe, Ga

BEST REEL for 15 plus tax.
I’m a cheapo when it comes to reels, because I do not want to cry twice spending over 80+ on reels if I break it, drop it on rocks, lose it on the water etc. I own 40-80 dollar reels like Abu Garcia, Shimano, Daiwa’s, Ugly Stiks for name brands and some walmart stuff too, so I think I know what a a good decent reel should feel like, picking up fishing for just over a year. I’m no pro, but I definitely outfish many people with far expensive gears. So, with that background, let me say this, this is a REALLY good reel for the price to add to your arsenal. I don’t know the bad reviews on here, but the one I got was perfectly made and had no blemish, weird noises, or uneven spooling. I got the GT1k for ultra light and have caught Crappie, Bass, Bluegill and 18+ inch stripers on this, and it still looks the same, works the same and has not degraded in 5 months of use. I am SOOOO tempted to buy a 2k even 3k but I’ve been spending money like crazy on other stuff. You can have a really good combo for sub 40 with this reel and not worry about babying or breaking this through user error, because it’s really affordable. I highly recommend this reel. Or you can buy the Shimano FX for under 25, but even that reel is made mostly of plastic, this is reel feels way more sturdy.

Worth the impressively low price
I've bought a couple of fishing items from this company with moderate satisfaction but this little guy is a keeper... I've caught some nice largemouth bass like the one I have posted and I've only had it about 2 weeks. Smooth casting. Easy to use... Very little to complain about except for possibly the overall distance you cast isn't super great... But for lure fishing in and around nearby areas where bass like the lurk... I can't ask for much better

Love These Reels!
Love these reels, I now have 4 of them mated with Abu Garcia rods, absolutely wonderful reels. I use them in the White Bass run, and crappie fishing in the early summer.

Great reel for the price point!
The weight and size of this reel are great—it doesn’t feel cheap at all. The build is solid, and the retrieval of the fishing line is nice and smooth. I got this reel for my son because he loves green, and it definitely looks great. I added some mono backing and braided line, and so far, everything’s working as expected. I’m not expecting it to last forever, but for the price point, it’s a really good value. We’ll see how it holds up over time.

Poor quality
I have ordered two of these specific reals. The first i returned because the bail broke the first day on the water. It snapped right at the base. I ordered a replacement rather than asking for my money back. The 2nd one last all of a month before the same failure happened, the bail broke at the base. The action was smooth and I was excited about it but the quality could be better :/
