Excellent review of C#
Excellent, quick coverage of the C# language. I used this book to fill in gaps in my C# knowledge. I have coded with the language off and on for years but there were many keywords and features I had never used. Rather than getting bogged down in a phone book sized C# reference, I as able to read this cover to cover, quickly, and focus on the items I wasn't familiar with. And besides being mercifully short, the writing is excellent with concise, effective code samples. I did occasionally have to Google for more explanation, or experiment some more with the code, but that is as it should be.A note on formats. Its a shame O'Reilly doesn't sell their books in PDF format any longer. I'm a devoted user of Kindle for fiction, but was very skeptical of Kindle for programming books. I bought both the physical and Kindle versions of this book. (The Kindle copy was only $3 after buying the physical). The physical book is tiny. When opened it doesn't lay flat. And the text is small enough that my middle aged eyes struggled, even with reading glasses. The Kindle version was actually better than I expected, with a few caveats. I couldn't get this book to open in the Kindle app for Windows. So I used the web reader. In the web reader you can't copy any text. It would have been nice to be able to copy at least the code examples. Yes, the code is supposedly available in the author's LinqPad app (for free) but I didn't have much luck collating the book examples with what was available in the app. Finally, there was one section in the book with the LINQ query operators separated into 12 tables. In the Kindle version, on the windows web reader, the table names and numbers were missing.

Duplicate of C# In a Nutshell
Great book but it is an exact word for word duplicate of just the first 4 chapters of C# In a Nutshell. (Maybe I'm just stupid and was supposed to know that.) Ya don't need this one if you buy the other book, and it is over 1000 pages of great material.BTW, the other guy is wrong about the examples not being there. Download LINQ for free and they download with no problem.

Clear writing, very little BS
Great Book. Clear writing and very little BS. I'm reading the Kindle version, which is good for some things (like having the book always at hand),but can suffer from formatting issues. Many "pocket references" can have too little detail. This has more than I expected (which makes me wonder what the upcoming "in a nutshell" book would have that this doesn't).Take his advice and use LINQPad (free version) to try out code.

Short, but effective.
Unusually clear for a pocket guide. Most are so terse that, even if they include all features of a language, become opaque and unhelpful. This one really communicates without becoming overlong. An impressive accomplishment, particularly for a fairly complex language like C#.

Selten genutzt

Best Little Book for C#
If you love C#, you will love this pocket-book. Quick, easy and complete (you will learn things that you cannot learn elsewhere). I carry this little book with my Dell XPS laptop in my bag everyday; it adds very little weight, and it is much easier than looking up on the internet. More importantly, the writers, I think 2 brothers, are very smart people when it comes to C#. It feels like they created C#. I do not know them. Their books provide better docs on C#, than Microsoft. I also have their C# in a Nutshell book. I buy for each new version; worth the little money; else I will waste time on internet.
