Time is money in an airplane and with an instructor. Effective for both preflight learning and post-flight briefings, Flight School will benefit flight instructors with better-prepared students, and students will benefit from more progress in their flight training. The Pilotโs Manual: Flight School covers all the tasks for the FAA Practical Exam for the Private and Commercial certificates. With text supported by more than 500 full-color illustrations and photographs, students gain both a theoretical and operational understanding of the tasks. In addition to covering all the maneuvers required for the checkride, this textbook also prepares readers for the student pilot milestones: first solo, cross-country flying, instrument flight, and night flying. The appendix provides a comprehensive airplane checkout review, which readers can use to prepare for transitioning to a new airplane type, insurance applications, or the Flight Review. This book makes it easy for students to learn the maneuvers before taking to the air, so their time spent in the airplane with an instructor is dedicated to practice. This book is part of The Pilotโs Manual Series , used by leading universities as their standard classroom texts. Also available in the series: Ground SchoolโAeronautical knowledge required for Private and Commercial pilots Instrument FlyingโAeronautical knowledge and skill required for the Instrument Rating Multi-Engine FlyingโAeronautical knowledge required to earn a Multi-Engine Rating Access to FlightโAn integrated Private Certificate and Instrument Rating curriculum Airline Transport PilotโComplete ATP certification training program Review: Best overall textbook for private + commercial flight maneuver training - I am a Certificate Flight Instructor with an Instrument Instructor rating (CFII). I obtained copies of every pilot training textbook published, and reviewed each for accuracy, relevance, and teaching methods. ASA's Pilot's Manual series was clearly the overall best. Some others have good aspects, but some other textbooks have outright incorrect information in them. This book is part of a pair with the "Ground School" volume. This book mainly covers the aircraft maneuversโwhat is referred to as the "stick and rudder flying" part of your training. The other volume covers the "headwork" part (performance, weather, planning, etc). When you get this book, you may be somewhat overwhelmed by its size. Don't be. This book covers both the private and commercial certificates, has lots of full-page illustrations and white space, and is printed on good-quality, heavy paper. The book is organized simply: each flight maneuver/task is a chapter. Review the maneuvers planned for each flight lesson before flying. Along with this book and the "Ground School" volume, buy a personal copy of the aircraft's Pilot's Operating Handbook (POH)โoften, they are sold as "Pilot's Information Manuals" by the aircraft manufacturer and pilot shops. Review: Leading me to my career! - Got this book just to see if the aviation industry interested me at all as a career path Iโd want to follow, turns out flying planes is like learning stick again in an old VW beetle or bus. Even if just to read for fun this book teaches you everything from the basic physics of flight, to caring for your plane, techniques, and other things to really get you started. I joined an โaccelerated pathway programโ and the last two weeks for me has all been review simply from having read this book with a little looking over here and there. I decided on the hardback version and trust me itโs definitely worth it, like $50 more (at the time) worth it. Even now that Iโm flying itโs still a great piece to look at and read a chapter of just like my Stephen king books, if youโre new to the area or not I would highly highly recommend this series of aviation books!

NICE
Bought this for my boyfriend who is in to airplanes. Every page was colorful and easy to read with easy to understand information (I could even understand it and I'm usually clueless with this stuff!) Seems VERY thorough. Would recommend.
