Review: Reliable Go-To ASA Filament for Functional Prints - This has become one of my regular ASA filaments for functional prints. I have moved away from PLA and PETG entirely at this point. Swapping filaments between projects is more hassle than it is worth, and the non-engineering filaments tend to get brittle and unreliable after just a few months sitting on the shelf. ASA holds up over time and prints I made months ago still look and perform like the day they came off the bed. Dimensional accuracy on this filament has been consistent. The advertised tolerance feels accurate based on the parts I have printed, and dimensions come out true to the model without needing to compensate in the slicer. The spool itself is wound cleanly with no tangles or weird behavior during long prints. Print quality has been solid across a range of settings. Layer adhesion is strong, the surface finish is clean, and the black color is a true black rather than a washed out gray. UV resistance is the main reason to reach for ASA in the first place, and parts I have placed outdoors have held up well without the yellowing or surface degradation you get with cheaper outdoor filaments. One important note for anyone new to ASA. Ventilation is not optional. The fumes during printing are noticeably stronger than PLA or PETG, and you should always print in a well ventilated space or with a proper enclosure that vents outside. Take care of yourself and set up your workspace properly before diving in. For anyone printing functional or outdoor parts, this is a reliable choice that has earned a spot in my regular rotation. Good filament at a fair price.
Review: Easy to use out of the box. Disappointing "Black Green" olor. - Edit. The Burnt Titanium is gorgeous. The Black Green, is disappointingly light rather than "Black". See photo Gorgeous! I was in a hurry, so didn't dry or dial in this filament at all. Just used Bambu slicer's Generic ASA setting on my P1S. And the print came out amazing. Good adhesion, no warping, dry out of the box, and the color is fantastic. Of course I started with a super clean plate with 2 dried layers of well spread glue (Elmer's purple) and a small brim - my usual ASA routine. I'm very happy with this and will happily buy more when I run out. I tried buying one "used in original packaging" . That was a joke. It was in the box, but not in a sealed bag, it arrived so dirty and dusty I wouldn't put it in my printer. Lesson learned, don't buy used filament

## Features

- High UV Resistance - FLASHFORGE ASA UV filament combines the properties of traditional ABS filament with enhanced high-temperature resistance. It is UV stable, meaning it doesn’t suffer from significant shrinking.
- Excellent Temperature Resistance - FLASHFORGE ASA maintains its shape and integrity up to temperatures near 93°C. This makes it particularly suitable for printing objects intended for long-term outdoor use, such as RC planes or car accessories.
- Chemical Resistance - ASA exhibits good resistance to many chemicals, including oils and solvents, making it an excellent choice for applications that require chemical stability.
- Clog-Free, Bubble-Free: The filament is designed to be clog-free and bubble-free, ensuring a smooth and stable printing experience. It is dried for 24 hours, vacuum-sealed, and undergoes quality checks before leaving the factory.
- Precision and Consistency: Advanced CCD diameter measurement and adaptive control systems ensure that 99% of the filament has a diameter of 1.75 mm with a tolerance of +/- 0.02 mm. Each spool contains 1 kg (2.2 lbs) of filament.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the exact width and diameter of the asa spools?? thank you.**
A: The flashforge spool is 200 mm in diameter, the drum diameter is 68 mm and the inner width (working area) is 58 mm. I'm sure it's the same for all materials.

**Q: I will have this running while I sleep and see the description says doesn’t produce fumes but I thought this kind of plastic did produce some.**
A: I also sleep in the same room as my printer (ender 3) and while there is a smell it is barely noticeable unless you are really close to it.

**Q: Is the flexy pla supposed to be limp off the spool? I just opened this spool got a simi decent print from it then it wouldn't feed,**
A: Tpu and flexible pla is limp, like a rubber band, and requires MUCH different settings than pla or petg.

**Q: is this is electrically conductive with 20% Metal Powder Filled?**
A: I doubt it. It’s metal colored. I would not trust PLA with electricity regardless, it has such a low melting point it seems that would be a fire hazard if it got warm.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy to use out of the box. Disappointing "Black Green" olor.

### ⭐ UPDATED: Prints well but constantly breaks
*by P***K on October 7, 2023*

Update: What I thought was breakage due to crosses in the filament turned out to be poorly developed filament. In some areas in bends, like you would bend slightly to load the filament through your extruder. In other areas, it snaps almost instantly with very little pressure. So, if your machine even slightly pulls on the filament as it's feeding during a print it will snap. I had this issue every other print over a weekend of printing a few things. I will be returning and spending a little more money on a better filament. It's a shame if it were not for the brittleness this would be a decent filament, even easier to work with than some PLA brands I've purchased in the past. But I've never had filament this brittle before. -------- Read a lot of horror stories about ASA, this one took me only 2 short test prints to get dialed in which was nice. However, every other print the filament gets snagged on itself and snaps off mid print. The spool also comes unwound incredibly easily, perhaps the easiest out of any filament I've ever printed with. All in all I'd (*NOT*) buy again but it's pretty annoying to deal with the small issues
