Aico Ei146e Optical Smoke Alarm AC mains power supply and 9V alkaline battery back-up.

Used to replace an older smoke alarm. So east to fit, slide out the old then slide in the new. No messing with retiring or changing base plates. Excellent, and quick delivery

Very easy to swap out older models for the new ones, a bit pricey when you have 8 to replace plus very wasteful on back plates that are thrown away. They look better than the older models however how good are they when a fire breaks out I do not know. The old ionising alarms gave false alarms where these do not but do they give you enough time to vacate the building? The other down side is replacing the battery after 5 years when the life of the unit is ten.

Was a bit worried about buying this especially as it’s for my family safety especially with some of the reviews some even showed a video on placing a burning paper under the alarm and it failing to go off I think the manufacturer needs to add more info to the item which is missing so thought I would add it here My original smoke alarm has been working for 10 years but decided to wake me at 4am going off and unable to switch it off I took a hammer to it 😂 I soon realised that it was a older model and they no longer come as smoke and heat alarms it’s either one or the other which to be honest was a blessing as ours kept going off every time the wife spent longer than 4 mins in the shower from the heat I wanted the same brand as it. Was already wired in and the base plate was still in place so I could just click it up I did notice the manufacturer does clearly state to use a screw driver to press the tab to release from the plate attached to the ceiling after seeing a few reviews people saying they had to snap there’s which I treid and it does come back down as easy as goes up Right the important bit I treid the fire test with cardboard burning under it in fact it melted slightly and still did not go off so thought I had a dud but thought I change the battery repeated again no alarm so thought perhaps it’s got to charge for a bit left it plugged in on ceiling and sure enough 1 hr later it went off with the test as expected so perhaps the people saying they had a faulty one did not allow the battery to charge

These are a direct replacement for the EI141 and you can change them over without needing to swap the bases, so it takes about 30 seconds. Also comes with the 9v battery.
