Henckels Modernist Steak Knife Set of 4, Silver, Stainless Steel

These are large sized heavy steak knives. We think they are lovely. The textured handles are very comfortable to hold. We've only had them for a couple of months, but they show no signs of tarnish or wear so far. The serrations on these knives are tighter and more vertical than most steak knives. They do cut cleanly, but I find less pressure and more horizontal motion, more like a sawing motion, works well.

For years I've wanted to find steak knives that don't have wooden handles, and here they are. Very nice knives that feel great in the hand and look fabulous. Sadly, one of the knives in our 2 packs had minor scrape on one of the handles, but the blemish is hardly noticeable so not worth returning (from overseas). Overall, absolutely love these knives: could be enhanced by having a nice presentation case in which you can store 8-12 knives.

Love the look and feel of the knives, but they started rusting right away even with hand wash only and immediate drying.

These are a tad light and do rust, but are very pretty.

These have a bit of weight to them, but cut great. Would definitely recommend these knives.

We bought 8 of these Henckels steak knives to replace our aging Wusthoff steak knives. We had long given up on "hand wash only" treatment for our steak knives and the wooden handles had begun cracking from repeated dishwasher cleaning and they required frequent sharpening. These Henckels seemed like a great answer for those of us who resist hand washing every knife after every meal. When new, they look and feel great. The satin well-weighted handles accent the shiny stainless blades for a high-end feel. But after only a couple uses and dishwasher cycles, the "stainless" blades are now badly stained - beyond a simple soft-scrub hand cleaning. Yes, we realize that knives should ideally be hand washed, but that's just nor realistic for us and the all-metal design and dishwasher-safe claims were appealing. Also, while the serrated blades seemed a reasonable alternative to straight blades in need of regular sharpening, we quickly learned the trade-off: serrated blades may stay "sharp" longer, but they tear through meats and chicken rather than neatly slicing it.

These are solidly built and look like they will last forever, and are also very sharp.

Even though the product description states that these knives are dishwasher safe, they are not. We have stopped using ours as they get rust stains whenever they get washed in the dishwasher.
