Saulo Ribeiro Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Revolution Series 1- Instructional DVD Set

I had just started training (about 5 months into it) and got these DVDs to try and progress fast. It delivered big time. What I especially like about these DVDs is the emphasis on not wanting to hurt your partner, just use good technique and get the tap. One guy comes to mind in my school who has a very aggressive game, you can tell his main emphasis is moves or transitions that make his training partner very "uncomfortable" . He's stronger than me, half my age and has a little more mat time than myself. Using the techniques in the DVDs I easily pass his guard, control his hips to prevent his escapes and then submit. Much to this students utter fury. That is worth the price alone!

Thanx Saulo....returned to training under Patrick McCarthy Sensei at 50 years old after 25 year lay-off. Dojo has MMA gym and newaza is central to curriculum. Despite extremely patient, world-class instruction, i'm hopeless on the ground and a REALLY slow learner. Neede something equivalent to "grappling for dummies"....too many DVD resources are pitched way above entry level novice and assume significant prior knowledge/ experience. This DVD set avoids that, providing practical insight to the fundamental principles and 'big picture' while containing plenty of stuff for athletes of all ability levels. Saulo emphasizes not wasting energy, weight distribution, and common misconceptions each step of the way. Combine the dvd with Jiu-Jitsu University, his book, and you are on your way to understanding the sport thanks to Saulo's teachings.

A very nice reference that can give insight to most anyone. Really helped my game and helped my advancement toward purple belt.

I learned a lot from this series. Saulo seems to genuinely care.

A lot of position to learn. Very technical yet helps with my rolling as a beginner.

Definitely a good combo to add if you have his book as well! But even if you don't, it definitely has great techniques (and foundations) for beginners and intermediate players!
