LED Replacement Bulb 302LM Led Conversion Kit for 3 4 5 6 C/D Cell Mag Lite Flashlights Torch Upgrade

The LED replacement bulb (LED conversion kit) arrived as expected. The installation was straightforward and resulted in a significantly brighter footprint for my 3D cell Mag Lite flashlight. Completely impressed by the ease of installation and quality of the light.

So, the pictures didn't show the bottom of this, I just saw a chrome cylinder - then I removed the lens of my Mag Lite, lifted the reflector out (don't touch the shiny part, or the inside of the glass - you'll drive yourself nuts trying to get the fingerprints off - friendly warning). Next, you remove the retaining nut, which is a chrome tube that screws down to secure the bulb into the base. Lift the old bulb out, and this bulb fits perfectly within the cylinder walls and drops back into the same place the old bulb was. Replace the retaining nut - and don't do like I did and look at the LED when you hit the button. Yeah, you'll see spots for awhile. The old bulb lit up, and it was fine for walking along a sidewalk at night - THIS is way more than the old bulb could ever hope to be. I was thinking "just 300 lumens". I'm guessing my old bulb was pushing around 50 lumens. The circuitry is kind of the unsung hero. Whether they are using pulse-width technology, or a charge pump, or a constant current/variable voltage supply design - I'm not sure. What I do know is that this will drain the last bit of energy from your batteries, and I mean that in a very positive manner. Normally, your battery voltage drops - the bright light becomes dimmer over time; until it's too dim to be useable and you replace the batteries - even though the batteries may have 50% charge remaining. That's a lot of charge to go to the landfill. Using one of the above designs - which are built into the bulb, you not only get more light - the batteries last about 2x as long, and you drain the batteries of all useful life. I'd call that a good win

Okay. So, I'll start with what you really want to know. Yes, the reviewer who stated that these bulbs are the brightest bulbs available for the 3 Cell D Maglite was correct and being honest. Yes, these bulbs are abnormally bright, as compared to any incandescent bulb you may have used in the past, and are, therefore, suitable for the ever annoying, but necessary, purposes of finding things in the trunk of your car or under a seat or under the sofa or in the scary and creepy and dimly-lit garage and, most importantly, for the purpose of standing the flashlight on end, up a table where it will be safe to leave it wedged between books or piles of papers, such that the flashlight can and with this bulb will actually be able to light a room, when the power company has failed to warn you of a planned neighborhood outage. I bought this bulb immediately after my flashlight bulb quit on me, during a "planned" yet undisclosed outage and it arrived two days before they "accidentally" shut the power off to the area for an additional four hours, at night. This bulb lit up the entire living room and allowed me to get some work done while waiting and it stayed lit without any interruptions or flickers for the whole four hours and stayed relatively cool. My old bulb was an LED replacement that was too warm and too dark and experience flickers. The CREE bulb has really impressed me. I know, I shouldn't be this excited over a flashlight bulb but showering in the dark does actually still kind of scare me, even at my advanced age, and this bulb didn't even have trouble in a steamy bathroom. This is the same flashlight, with no difference but the bulb, so the bulb is a good bulb. Good luck finding what works for you.

My old 3 cell MAG-LITE had the original bulb. After buying several new tactical LED flashlights I decided to upgrade the old MAG-LITE with this LED conversion. Very impressed with how bright the light is and how well the beam narrows down. Well worth it and it is now my go to first flashlight.

Works as advertised.

Fits and works as expected in a traditional Maglite, 3 D-cell flashlight. This LED is much brighter than the original incandescent lamp. It can be focused into a spot or broad area much like the incandescent. I also bought the Holoson 3-lamp set (3 watt lamps) for comparison. Very similar brightness. Since I have two of the Maglites, I did a side-by-side. Interestingly, the quality of the focus pattern varies with the combination of lamp and flashlight. Minute differences in LED placement may the reason. Another reason to consider the 3-lamp Holosons and experiment. I will try to get some pictures to post.

This one worked. I have an older 4 D battery mag lite. Beware as some of the bulbs out there did not fit. This one worked perfectly.

Direct replacement for my 4 D cell maglite I bought 30 years ago. At least 3 times brighter than the original incandescent bulb. Definitely worth $12. Very satisfied

Nach wie vor gehören meine Maglites zu meinem Leben dazu. Unverwüstlich, zuverlässig und unmöglich, sie irgendwo in einer Schublade verschwinden zu lassen, wo man sie im Bedarfsfall nicht findet. Und auch diese LED trägt dazu bei, dass sie auch heute noch bestehen kann. Im direkten Vergleich zur originalen Kryptonlampe wird einem bewusst, wie weit die Technik ist und wie sehr wir uns dran gewöhnt haben. Denn das Original ist eine kleine Funzel mit unglaublich unregelmäßiger Ausleuchtung. Aber bis vor 20 Jahren war es unerreicht. Nun ist es immer noch unerreicht, weil die Maglite bis auf die "Birne" elektrisch und nicht elektronisch ist und somit unanfällig.

Questa semplice lampadina ha dato nuova vita alla mia Maglite 3D di oltre trenta anni fa. Tra l'altro, consente di avere un fascio molto ristretto e concentrato che illumina con potenza anche a distanze impensabili prima. Ottima!

Produit conforme à la description. Montée sur maglite 4 piles. Lumière plus blanche et surtout bien plus puissante. À voir concernant la résistance dans le temps. Un peu cher mais réellement plus puissante.

I’ve had a Maglite 4 D cell torch for years. It’s lovely engineering, but not particularly bright. For work, I always used modern LED torches, much smaller, brighter and more convenient. A friend suggested converting the Maglite to LED, and this item seemed a good choice. Easy to fit - just unscrew the bezel, unscrew the incandescent bulb, replace with the LED (fits exactly) and replace the glass. The difference is amazing. It’s only rated at 2W, and I was concerned it might not be very bright, but it’s amazing. I can light up trees 200m away and the beam can be focused very tightly. There is still the annoying artefact (like a hole in the beam) if you twist the focus to a wide beam, but I can live with that. It’s still better than the incandescent bulb pattern. Best of all, I get to keep my beautiful Maglite, with its size and weight and simple on/off button (no more cycling through endless settings you never use just to turn it off). I’ve fallen in love with it again. Delivery within 24 hours. Not cheap, but highly recommended.

20年ほど前に購入した３Ｄ（単１Ｘ３本）のＭＡＧライト。 十分に明るいと思っていましたが、近年のＬＥＤライトに比べると流石に暗い。。。 純正のＬＥＤモジュールを探しましたが、どこも品切れ、取り扱い終了で見つからず。 とりあえず純正以外で３Ｄに使用できるＬＥＤモジュールということでこちらを購入しました。 本来の性能を発揮するには６セルの９Ｖとのことですが、定電圧電源を使って４．５Ｖ～９Ｖまで変化させてみましたが、特に輝度の変化は感じられませんでした。（正確には明るすぎてわからない^^; ） ３セルでも使用できるということは、おそらく定電圧・定電流回路が組み込まれているのでは無いか？ と勝手に判断しております。 取り付けは特に問題なく、純正球と入れ替えるだけ。 電球単体で比べてみると若干ＬＥＤの方が光源が高く、ソケット側への光がカットされるので配光に不安がありましたが、全く杞憂でした。 照射光も粗悪なものは青みがかって、かえって暗く見えますが、この商品はちょうどよい白さで視認性も良好。 ほとんど車が通らない夜の道路で、約50ｍ先の反射案内板と5ｍ先のセンターラインをビーム、ワイドで照らし、比較してみました。 流石にＬＥＤは光量があるのでビーム状態では反射板からの反射光が凄い！ しかも純正球ではほとんどわからないセンターラインや路側帯のラインまで照らしています。 ワイド状態でもその差は明らか。真っ白な光が広範囲を照らしてくれるので、実用性が格段に向上しました。 ただし、それなりに発熱はあるので耐久性は不明。 ＬＥＤチップの発熱がどれだけ放熱されるか？ですが、このあたりは装着する器具の構造に左右されるかもしれませんね。
