Will this work with a google pixel 2 xl?

Does this fit well with a case on a iPhone 8 plus?

Dear friend. Yes. The cell phone clamp size is 2.3-4.1inch width. It can fit for 4"-6.5" screen smartphones. So iPhone 8 plus is no problem. Hope it helps you.

Can I use camera and phone same time

Maybe if you mount them on top of each other (place phone on mount that has 2 places to put in screw then screw in the camera's plate or in reverse if you have a place to mount a plate on top of the camera)

can this be used to film with one phone in the horizontal position and the other in the vertical position?

If you would like to. It comes with 2 mounts. One is adjustable, it can position the phone horizontal or vertical. While the other one is fixed, it can only hold the phone in a horizontal position.
