Solid purchase if you are in a pinch and don't want to go crazy.
Not the best sharpener ever, but it does a solid job and doesn't cost a fortune and is very easy to use. I have used it both on my ceramic knives and steel knives and it sharpens both well enough to cut through even tomato with ease. Someday I will inevitable buy a better sharpening device, but this is perfectly adequate in the mean time.

This is awesome
I have a set of Kyocera ceramic knives which are so sharp. Slice a tomato paper thin - everybody loves them. One started to get dull and I read that you cannot sharpen them at home. All a sharpener will do is remove chips. NOT TRUE. Six passes with the sharper returned the knives to their original sharpness. The instructions said this could also be used on conventional steel knives. YES! I sharpened all our steel knives and they are almost as sharp as the ceramic. The edge likely won't last as long but who cares! Six swipes with this little beauty and they are as good as new. We have Wustof knives and a couple of Wustof sharpeners. Power and manual. Threw them both out. Sorry Wustof but this sharpener is all I need.

Takes micro chips out but doesn't make Kyocera knife sharp again
I have been using my Kyocera santoku knife daily, and I've had it for over 6 years. It developed micro chips along these years and became dull. This sharpener did work to take those chips completely out, but you need to run it hundreds of times. Also it didn't make the knife sharper even the chips were taken out, I'm thinking maybe the angle is not right. But not like mentioned in other reviews, it's not easy to break the knife with this sharpener in my experience, I used a little pressure and it still didn't break my knife. It did sharpen steel knife fast.

Even works on my Kyocera ceramic knife.

Waste of money.
Doesn’t work. My old battery powered Kyocera sharpener worked for years but just died. This manual sharpener had good reviews so I decided to try it. My ceramic knife is no longer usable after trying this sharpener. It’s now super dull.

Not ideal
Stopped using it after 3 times

Excellent. Sharpens quickly, effectively and does not need pressure
Works very well. I needed to only draw the knife through it 6 times for it to become significantly sharper. Easy to use, no pressure required.

Seems to work, however holding it stable is a challenge. Given the brittle nature of ceramic blades this reduces its effectiveness.

Also schlußendlich ein guter Kauf. Vor allem, weil die Alternative bei Keramikmessern nur wegwerfen ist.

Bought this to sharpen our Kyocera ceramic knives and got it at a steal with the amazon gift voucher. Works effectively and despite it being a manual sharpener, it does its job well.

Great to see a sharpening tool available for that knife. My spouse first sharpened our Starfrit set with no problems at all and then began to sharpen the Kyocera. I was willing to let her sharpen the much less expensive set but stopped her from sharpening the much more expensive knife. Within a minute I had broken it right in the middle as in the photo. So really read your direction sheet and apply as minimal pressurerequired to sharpen your knife or it will look like mine....
