Yaktrax Run Traction Cleats for Running on Snow and Ice

I have used these kinds of traction devices for several years. And each year they keep getting better. This model is design to fit right foot or left foot. This gives better shape to the grips and keeps them from twisting. The Velcro strap is positioned just right so that it Yaktrax onto the shoes. They never slid off my shoes or boots once. I like the combination of coils and spikes. The coils work very well on the snow, while the spikes dig into ice. I have walked in all many of winter conditions: both ice and snow. Some of the ice was extremely smooth, and therefore slippery, and on a sloped surface. Even so, I could walk safely and with confidence. And I have worn them on shoes and boots. Wearing these is no guarantee against falling, so I still had to use caution, even as I might be walking at near my normal pace. Having the spikes on the toe really made a difference when stepping down, as when stepping off a curb onto the street. I highly recommend these.

Sizing chart says an M will fit a size 27 shoe. I read customer reviews that suggested getting a bigger size than what Yaktrax recommends. So I got size L. Still way too small! No way will a size L fit a size 27 shoe. Waste of time and money.

I'm at my third pair of these in several years, I still like them for running in Montreal winters, they're perfect on the packed-snow becoming ice we have in our streets. As a downside, they're not very durable, it's better not to trust their size chart and go one size larger (I have larges for 8.5 shoes). Having them larger they don't stretch as much and it helps with the durability too. Replacement spikes can also be bought separately, grab some if they're available.

So far so good on snow. I read previous reviews and upsized and they fit well. Still waiting for ice. Easy to slip on / off during run.

This is a very good product for those who run outdoors and hate using a treadmill in the winter. I almost gave this 4 stars only because they are not the most durable, but I am hard on them so it may be more the user than the product. They are lightweight and provide traction on snow and ice covered roads with little to no slipping. The metal spring traction grips on the back provide additional traction that other products don’t have so the extra cost of this product is worth it. They are a bit difficult to get on but I would highly recommend if you insist on running outdoors during the winter months.
