Review: Still THE BEST. - After an extensive search for the perfect compact home amplifier, I've finally found it in the Yamaha THR30II. I've been using a Fender Champ 25 SE but wanted something smaller. As a jazz guitarist who has experimented with numerous amps... Henriksen, Milkman, ZT, DV Mark, vintage Polytone, Vox Clubman 60, Positive Grid Spark... I can confidently say the THR30II stands out from the crowd. I initially dismissed the THR30II, assuming it would produce a thin, insubstantial sound unworthy of a "real" amp. However, my preconceptions were completely shattered upon trying it. 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 The THR30II delivers an impressive audio experience with rich, room-filling sound. It produces warm, clear, clean tones for jazz, and surprisingly robust bass response. The "Classic" amp settings to my ear are the best and legit give tube-amp tones that I found particularly appealing. One of the amp's standout features is its ability to dial in precise tones. It's highly responsive to adjustments, making it easy to achieve pretty much any tone. The built-in compression is effective, and I've found my sweet spot with a modified Classic > Bass amp preset, tweaking the EQ to my liking (rolling back the bass a bit, turning down the treble, and upping the mids + some compression). 𝗨𝘀𝗲𝗿-𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 The THR30II has intuitive controls for quick tone adjustments. Its companion app, contrary to some negative reviews, has worked flawlessly for me and unlocks additional potential in the amp. The combination of hardware controls and software options strikes a nice balance, allowing for deep customization without overwhelming the user. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝟰𝟬 While the Spark 40 is a capable and feature-rich alternative, the THR30II just plain sounds better. Its sound is more authentic, better representing the guitar's natural tone. It strikes a balance between versatility and simplicity. It offers enough options to dial in your desired tone without overwhelming you with choices. This approach encourages spending more time actually playing and less time tweaking settings or scrolling through endless presets. The THR30II also aligns with my belief that most of a guitarist's tone comes from their fingers. With its plethora of features and endless presets, I feel the Spark masks your instrument's character, while the THR30II amplifies your guitar without getting in the way of your playing. It doesn't feel like a mask or a crutch but rather an extension of your instrument. This philosophy extends to my thoughts on the upcoming Spark 2. While having even MORE features can be exciting, it's crucial to remember that great music has been made on much simpler equipment. The risk of getting lost in a sea of options is real, and it can detract from the essential practice of simply playing and improving your craft. So for those seeking a compact, high-quality amplifier for home use, the Yamaha THR30II is an outstanding choice. I'm so happy with it. It offers an impressive combination of authentic tone, versatility, and user-friendly features that make it perfect for practice, recording, or intimate performances. After trying numerous options, I can finally say my search for the ideal at-home amp is over.
Review: Fanstastic upgrade from THR10 - Things I love about this THR model: - Wireless capabilities: Guitar through Line 6 transmitter (sold seperately), footswitch (sold seperately), amp's power source, amp's app mobile editor software - All three THR10II (its predecessor) models combined into 1. This model has more channels and modes than its previous versions. From Jazz and blues tones to Metal! That being said, I doubt they will release a version of THR30II catered specifically for metal or jazz enthusiasts like they did with THR10II models. - Aesthetics. The amp's body is very compact, sturdy, and light so it's very comfortable to carry and use anywhere. The physical look is not much different from THR10II which is not a downside at all. Off-white color and black knobs contrast gives it a vintage rustic feel to it. - I haven't test this with pedals that much yet, but so far it handles overdrive and distortion pretty well. - More importantly, this sounds great overall! You don't need to crank up the amp to the max to achieve the tones you desire. Things I wish this amp had: - Effects loop input/output. Yes this amp is meant for practice but there are practice amps out there in market now that has this feature. - The amp's mobile software editor is disappointing. Compared to THR10II's desktop editor software, THR30II's mobile editor software is much more simplified so it's not as tweakable as the former editor.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Best Amp I own
*by A***R on December 9, 2025*

This is the best amp I have owned. It sounds glorious and looks beautiful. I don't use the app much but it allows a lot of tone tweaking. Downloading a large number of tones is a big plus. I have an old VOX DA5 which has no app and sounds anemic in large spaces but sounds very good in small spaces. I also have a Spark 2 which is very good and has many decent tones, especially with AI engine, but doesn't come even close to THR30ii. While this one is almost twice the price of Spark 2, I would recommend it over spark 2 any day. What THR cannot easily do that Spark 2 can is to create tones by just telling it - "give me a Ken Burrell tone from Midnight blue" gives something that is close enough. And despite not having an AI capability like Spark 2 has, I prefer this amp for its tone and sound. The feature I have used is to download tones (I think there are 40 or so tones) and save them on the amp. Those tones are all better sounding than Spark 2 tones. Also, the bluetooth audio capability in this is far superior to Spark 2 which sometimes distorts sound. I suspect that as I use Spark 2 in a big city where airwaves might be saturated with wifi and bluetooth signals I have experienced some connection issues on Spark 2. I use THR30ii in a place where there is zero bluetooth and wifi density and that is why I have never experienced any connection problems. Overall, I would highly recommend this amp.
