First the bad thing: It does go through batteries... one per day easy. Make sure to get several and a charger. I got a charger that uses an USB port so I can charge on the fly with a USB power brick. Now the rest.... really good camera. Easy to use, great feedback when adjusting the non auto modes.. I took it on a one month trip after two weeks of buying it. Played with it for maybe 10 hours before we went. It has lots of features that I forgot how to use... perhaps a small laminated cheat sheet would make things easier... like a map of the very menus and instructions on the most likely uses: multiple shots, video, panorama, timer, etc... But if you want to take good pictures, the camera works very well. I ended up doing half my shooting in full auto mode and the other half in aperture and manual modes. The built in display works really well and I appreciate that old "mirror" sound when I take a shot. I put a 1TB card in it, took like 1000 shots in "high quality JPEG" and barely made a dent into the memory. I realize I should have stored them in RAW but this was for a vacation so I needed to make it fast and easy and the quality of the shots is very good. The bluetooth interface to my phone was painless, I should figure out how to run it with the PC. Right now I just pull the memory out of the camera and pop it into a reader to download to the PC. EDIT: OK, took another month trip. Took like 2500 pictures, made only a small dent in the 1TB storage. Eventually I figured out how to take the best pictures... Use the Program AE mode, then hold down the shutter midway and adjust the aperture mode. This returns, IMHO, the best pictures with this camera. In our last trip we ran into quite a few cloudy skies, which made for a bright sky. Taking exterior pictures of old temples was hard, so I made a point of over exposing the sky a little bit. It also works great for indoors. It's likely more camera than I want, but for sure, it's something you can easily grow into. Takes great pictures. Got three zoom lenses for it... 10-18, 18-45 and 18-150. The telephoto is the heavy lens, but indispensable for certain shots. A great camera. Oh, I got four batteries now.

Good so far

I came back from an overseas trip with my old gear and decided it is time to buy something lighter to carry around. I carried a L-class lenses I sold my old kit to an online retailer and took the proceeds to buy this R10 kit. It is light weight and takes great pictures. However, the kit Lense was not satisfactory for taking family pictures in low light. I ended up buying another Sigma lens and I am now happy with it. The sigma lense added wight and I needed to buy an adapter - if you want to be able to take low light pictures then you need faster glass which will be heaver. Controls are easy to use and II love being able to take pictures of myself using the app - a nice feature when you want to take a family picture. In hindsight, I should have waited to sell my L-class lenses until I received the camera as I might have kept my favorite lens, Note, I am not a professional photographer.

In its own right it should be 5 star as a standout among other small mirrorless camera. Even at that this lightweight, small camera does most of what I get with expensive and much heavier Nikons. A very good motion tracking function, easily selected subject type: landscape, close up, sports, animals, and a very easy panoramic mode that requires no post shooting stitching or merging. Price is high for a small camera, but I did a lot of comparison buying before settling on the R10. See Ken Rockwell's photo site for in depth description and pro evaluation.

The camera is very good. I am satisfied. I just wish I could exchange it for the R6 or R7, which are full-frame, but my return period has passed. I highly recommend it.

Great camera but requires a big learning curve. It's ok if you don't mind using the Auto setting until you learn the camera. The manual is 916 pages and is not included with the camera. That was not a typo. The manual is 916 pages. However, like the majority of Canon cameras, it takes great pictures. This is my 5th Canon camera. I previously owned Ricoh's, Minolta's, Polaroids and Pentax. I will admit, I am partial to Canon. I am not sure there is a simpler mirrorless APS-C camera out there, there probably is but Canon's RF mount lenses are terrific.

I love this camera. It does exactly what I need it to do. The only thing I do need to do is get another lense that zooms in further than the original lens them come with. Other than that, the size of the camera is perfect. It’s not too big or too small. Quality for the price is great. I did have to order another battery because I don’t feel like the battery lasts as long as it should. Other wise, easy to use.

I love this camera. I'm a beginner with barley any experience in manual shooting. I upgraded from my Canon Rebel t2i. This is a huge upgrade. Pretty proud of this picture I took.

I bought the R10 a couple of weeks back, and honestly, it has turned out to be one of the best value for money cameras I’ve used. I didn’t want to spend a fortune, but still needed something reliable and this fits perfectly in that sweet spot. The first thing I noticed was how lightweight and easy it is to carry around. Whether shooting casually or taking it on trips, it never feels like a burden. The autofocus is seriously impressive. It locks onto subjects quickly, and for photos as well as videos, it just makes life easier. As someone who isn’t a full-time professional, this kind of reliability matters a lot. Image quality is solid, especially in good lighting. Colors come out nice and natural, and with a bit of tweaking, you can get really sharp and clean shots. Even in slightly tricky conditions, it holds up better than I expected at this price. To get the best out of it, I’ve learned a few things while using it. Pairing it with a good lens makes a huge difference the kit lens is decent, but investing in a prime lens really would unlocks its potential. Also, playing around with settings instead of sticking to full auto helps you understand what the camera is capable of. Once you get comfortable with that, the results improve noticeably. Battery management is also something to keep in mind is carrying a spare battery is always a good idea if you’re shooting for longer durations. Overall, I’m really happy with the R10. It doesn’t try to be a high-end flagship, but for the price, it delivers way more than expected. If you’re getting into photography or want a solid hybrid camera without overspending, this is honestly a very smart buy.
