Too much Speculation!!!
It wasn't a bad book ,but it became very speculative, without citing any sources. Those of us who have read many Jimi books, can tell the author lifted his "facts" from other writer's books. Another annoying theme was his sanctimonious crusade to down America and lift up Jimi's British savior's. Spare me. Then he wants to call Jimi Hendrix of mixed race, but yet calls Devon Wilson an African American. They were both BLACK!!! And finally, this took my review from 3 stars to 2 stars ------ Richard Prior?????? Come on, really?????

Three Stars
An irritating writing style and I thought the writing was mediocre. found it unsatisfactory as a biography.

A good book with another look from a different point of view from someone who was actually there.

Jimi the truth tightened up
have to say that this is not a totally unbiased review of this book, as you will see that I actually edited it. However, it was great to be given the book to edit in the first place, as I also lived through much of what has been written, so I am acquainted with the places, people and era.Rod’s version of events is spot on and I doubt if any of it will need correction, after all Rod began life as a Journalist, as a very young lad, so facts get ingrained on your memory and parts that have to be checked later in life are often very easy to remember. In the book you will see many ‘facts’ cleared up, many mis-truths corrected and many myths busted. To say Rod was at the sharp end of the stories is to the point, as one of the major and best Club Promoters, Booker and Manager, you had to have your wits about you in those days and the huge variety of people at the top of the music business tree that Rod met, some of whom are still playing today, lend a true reflection of what the Industry was all about. If you are lucky enough to remember those days or like being informed of what they were really like, this easy to read book is for you, a flashback to the start of what became the greatest explosion in modern music we have ever seen. I doubt if those kind of days will ever come back, so it is good to be able to live through them again thanks to Rod.

a credible elaboration of JH's life post London.
Everyone has got an opinion on Jimi Hendrix's death. I wasn't there. I am convinced by the discussion on Univibes, which seems to accord well with Brokenlight: Jimi's Last Joint: Hendrix - The Final Witness and other contemporaneous material. Various have claimed to have the inside track on JH's last days with varying degrees of credibility. What I really like about this book was the account of JH's early days in London and the last few days of his life. It seems like a credible detailing and elaboration of other sources. If you are interested in "whither Jimi" then this is £4 well spent. Brokenlight: Jimi's Last Joint: Hendrix - The Final Witness

Well written and resarched
I'm bound to say it is well researched and written by someone who was there and knows the facts not the fiction. I would, wouldn't I? I wrote it.
