Big upgrade from a Yamaha TSR-7810, CHECK.
The System - RX-A3070 is currently running a 7.0.4 speaker configuration. Front left and right speakers are BIC EV-15s driven by a Crown XLS 2502. Center, surrounds, and presence speakers front and back are BIC FH6-LCRs and the back surrounds are FH65-Bs.Some Impressions - having the full speaker set really does add to the experience when watching movies. Atmos movies make better use of the extra speakers, but running the DSPs on a 7.1 track still adds to the overall immersion. The 11 channels also add a lot more volume over a 7 channel speaker configuration. That was one of my first impressions after the upgrade, plus the extra 55 watts per channel didn't hurt. The A3070 is much quicker switching sources than the 7810 in my opinion and feels a bit more snappy in general.YPAO Witchcraft - the YPAO measurement makes the DSPs feel more vivid and real on the A3070 than on the TSR-7810. The panning between speakers for moving objects in scenes also feels a lot more accurate than on the old receiver. Not saying the 7810 is bad, there is quite the price difference between units...Sounds quality - I have not had too many opportunities to push this AVR, but when I have the power feels limitless vs the TSR-7810. The mid tones on the A3070 feel much more pronounced than the old receiver. The TSR-7810 did really well with movies, but the sound felt a bit thin when playing back music. The clarity and crispness is very much there with this receiver. The remote - it has all the necessary buttons in my opinion, I like being able to change a lot of things with fewer button presses. Being able to program the remote for my TV's basic functions was also a nice plus over the TSR-7810.The App - I like being able to tweak and play with the DSPs from the app. I still prefer the remote for basic operation.Overall - I am really enjoying this receiver!

Good sound but has a blemish
The sound is great in pure direct mode, but I have to get a surround output channel fixed. The left surround pre-out is noticeably fuzzy/hissy compared to the other channels. Its not the external amp or the cables - it's definitely the pre-out channel. That's the reason for deducting a full star. The manual could have been written clearer. If it was possible to give 3.5 stars, I would.. It took a while to figure out how to get dolby atmos working. I thought it was the external input signal but it turned out the blu-ray player and streaming sources were good after all. Hint: read all the fine print in the manual and don't miss anything. It does produce good sound but I'll probably experiment with a different brand in the future.

It's really a great piece of equipment
I've owned the Yamaha 3070 for about a month now. It's really a great piece of equipment. Versatility is exceptional. More input types than you would ever need and coupled with Yamaha's Music Cast phone application, you can control the receive across multiple zones simultaneously, including having different source inputs and volume. If you are looking for a high end receiver that will challenge your technical abilities and performs at the very best level, I recommend this receiver 100%. Maybe 100+%. If you are not technically inclined and you don't have a significant other that is, don't buy this receiver because it will be too complicated for you to get full value form it. If you are technically inclined or have a significant other that is, you will not be disappointed.

AVENTAGE RX-A3070BL
Purchased the Yamaha AVENTAGE RX-A3070BL as a replacement for Onkyo TX-NR906 which failed twice due to HDMI capacitor issue. First repair was under warranty and only cost me shipping the 50 lb. dead weight from Florida to New York, nice. When I got it back I put a 200mm DC fan on top of it blowing directly on the HDMI daughter board and it lasted another 5 years until it failed again. In a nut shell The HDMI failures are the result of low quality caps on the board not thermally capable of handling the heat generated; the issue starts as HDMI handshake issue until total failure. Onkyo is NOT the only manufacturer to have had this issue. So, I’m older and wiser and the engineers have had 6 to 8 years to overcome a simple issue that never should have happened in the first place. I purchase the Yamaha AVENTAGE RX-A3070BL, hook it up, update the firmware, complete room calibration and start adding HDMI sources. All goes swimmingly until I get to my Lorex security camera system and then things start going sideways. I get a corrupted picture or no picture or sometimes for no reason it recognizes the Lorex and displays normally. I swap cables, I swap inputs, I swap ports, I swap sources but nothing works consistently. I’ve never had a problem with the Lorex HDMI it works with everything I’ve hooked it to and still does. Is this a HDMI handshake issue due to firmware or a hardware issue? I don’t know, what I do know is I’m not going to spend this kind of money for a boat anchor again. RETURNED.

Think twice before buy this
Bought 2nd yamaha rx v675 last year, it is very good compare with other brand. This year2018 But when i buy brand new rx a3070 with very high expectation.Without upgrade speaker, no any improvement compare with old rx v675.Only surround mode is show big different. This 3070 has 150w/channel so it can using with bigger speaker (more expensive)If your speaker did not need 150watt, i suggest not to buy this. Using rx v series maybe enough. Same sound quality in your original speaker.Music enhance is not show impressive sound.(maybe only for mp3 file)3070 also slower respone when using internet radio than rx v675.Youtube's a3070 reviewer one specialist said choose speaker to using with avr is key.

Buy this one!
This receiver is awesome. The overall performance is impeccable for the money. You won’t get more bang for your buck, anywhere in my opinion. It will accommodate more speakers than I need, but the 7.2 is amazing full crisp sound. The pass through capability is clean and pure as well. I am very happy that I bought this one.
