Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12 Training Video (Old Version)

I'm amazed at the accuracy and ease of using Dragon Naturally Speaking Home 12. The manual is about 300 pages long so to read it all, understand it enough to use all the information it contains is a monumental task. However, if you take a little at a time most of it will become second nature to you. Right now I'm downloading sections of the Users Guide to help bring me up to speed. Also, I sent away for a Dummies Guide and Nuance's tutorial DVD. That all should help. I'm thrilled with the program, I want to learn all I can and apply it ASAP. My typing is the worst so with this program, I avoid almost all spelling and typo errors. That in itself has sped up my productive time.

As much as I had hoped to learn a lot from this video, I learned nothing new. I thought, at least for my needs, it was very superficial and did not touch on the questions I had. I needed detailed instructions and explanations in how to improve recognition, how to navigate the program and the nitty-gritty of the program. This video covered none of this, I thought. It really did not explain the process for correcting errors, or making sure that the corrections are employed by the program in "learning" and correcting itself. I get messages all the time from the Dragon program that tell me to increase the space used by the program, or that tell me I might be doing something wrong. This video explained none of these. I kind of wander around the program like a blind man, trying to do the best I can. Dragon generally meets my needs, so the failures of the video are not a catastrophe for me, but I certainly could have saved a few bucks by not buying this video. I would not recommend it.

The training did not really make it any easier to start up dragon. However I love the main dragon program, which provided enough information to get going.

Useful and frankly should have come with the product and not have to be purchased separately. It would be better if it were interactive however. While there is inactive training video in program it is far too limited to be useful.

I am using this for college to write my PhD dissertation. I have found that the updater is an issue with Windows 8. Also it seems as if the application itself causes other applications to freeze. I verified this by as soon as shutting the Dragon down the other apps then began working again. To their credit when I restarted Dragon the apps all worked correctly.Dragon itself seems to work correctly most of the time. The time to train it is a must to make it efficient. I do wish they would allow commands to be custom made for formatting and not just for including wording in the text that is being dictated into.May be this exists in a different version.I do recommend this version, but you have to be serious about it and spend the time necessary to allow it to work correctly for you.

I bought this as an 8th grade graduation present for a young man struggling with a learning disability. I am hoping it helps him through high school and college. Being able to dictate frees up his creative writing. I tutored him for 6 years and spelling was so difficult that he would write less to avoid writing. I hope this will help. Haven't heard how it is working, but I do know they installed it on his computer.

Product does not work as advertised. ONLY works with their PIA (Pain in AButt) headset., and that is all. Will not accept the input from the Sony top of the line recorder made to work with Dragon. The first thing that support tells you is when their imaginary support will end... END.What kind of SCAM is this ? They play on your dream of having this work well for yourself.

Does not recognize voice well. I have reset 4 times. Too much effort for the benefit. I had hoped to use this for school.
