This Lego set will surely appeal to Lego fans of the current generation with its reliance on an app to build the speedboat etc. The kit is entitled 'City: Missions', with Lego figures. The set comes with no paper instructions, which I miss but perhaps I am too old school. Instead you need to download an app and scan a QR code -- there is no other way forward as far as I can tell. You are then given a mission entitled 'get ready, detective'! I did not find it that engaging but then I am not the target audience and neither do I play games on my mobile; the aim is for you to build your Lego figures while watching the cartoon Lego figures on the mobile tell a story. The second mission is the building of your speedboat. It is accomplished in a similar way to the first mission; you are shown how to built the speedboat on the mobile within a 'story' framework. Once you have completed the first two missions then this seems to unlock other missions and builds. I am not keen on this new way of presenting a Lego kit, but my step-nephew loves it and he is target audience. He is pleased with this product with the new 'build with a story not instructions', which is the quality you would expect from Lego, and so we are very happy to recommend. It is priced at £24.99 at the time of this Amazon Vine review and would make a great 'wow' present for a tween.

Going on line to get the instructions a bit time consuming

Bought for my 6 year old grandson. He's a big Lego fan. Loved this set and I love watching the concentration on his face as he follows the instructions and the pride when he's completed a model. Good value and very sturdy.

Great toy

I ordered this lego set for my nephew (7) who loves building different figures out of Lego- and he’s loved every minute of it (you truly can’t go wrong with Lego). This is the first time I have ordered a lego set that is interactive (I would usually purchase lego that has written instructions), but my nephew has absolutely loved the fact that it is interactive and, to be fair, it is a really nice change from the standard written instructions. I know for some they might not like this, but personally my nephew enjoyed the fact that he had to use the QR code. To use this- you use real lego bricks which you then complete on-line missions. The set is designed to make a mission speedboat and a ‘crook’ cell, which also includes 4 miniature figurines. This interactive play set requires a smart phone and to download the LEGO building construction app which is very straightforward. The app itself is very easily accessible and very simple to use. I am far from a computer whizz but this was easy and straightforward; to be fair I was a little apprentice at first as it is something new for me but I actually prefer it to the normal instruction booklet. As you’d come to expect with the Lego brand, it also comes with some added extra accessories including: handcuffs, treasure accessories and a magnifying glass. It makes the perfect gift or present for any child that loves computer games or anything interactive. My nephew is 7 and adores his new set. I do think that it is age appropriate at 6+ due to the interaction side, as I think younger children would struggle with this. I would be happy to recommend this product, especially for your first interactive lego set, and do think it is priced at a very reasonable price- £25 for the Lego brand is very reasonable.

Gteat lego set , but this does not come with instructions tou have to scan the cpde and follow the instructions on line as it tells the story .
