I'm an adult looking to learn to learn this loom. Will a hat made on this fit a grown up?

Yes, it depends on the kind of yarn you use. If you use the kind that comes in the kit it will probably be snug. But if you get a different kind it will fit. I wish I knew the kind to tell you but I'm not a big knitter. We went to Hobby Lobby and bought several kinds of yarn, and I knitted a hat for myself with a velvety kind and it fits beautifully, not small at all.

Is this too simple for a 13 year old?

Kind of. It is not necessarily too simple (It is exactly the same method as an adult would use), but the hat they would make would be way too small unless they knitted it extremely loosely.

our kit was missing the 2 needles. where can i get the plastic needle?

Amazon has them. When I searched for them on Amazon, the first thing that came up was a 40 pack of them for a little over $5. If not there, then any craft store like Hobby Lobby would have them. Instead of buying them, you could try to call the manufacturer of the product since it was their error in leaving them out. Any good comany should be happy and willing to replace the missing items.

I did not receive the loom. It was not in the box with the rest of the order.

Return it. You need the loom or you can't use it.
