Discover the backstory of new Stranger Things fan favorite Robin--the perfect read for anyone looking forward to devouring the fourth season on Netflix—now available as a paperback! High school is a monster, and it's eating everyone Robin knows. It's the beginning of sophomore year, and Robin's Odd Squad friends couple up, won't stop talking about college and their future careers, and are obsessed with trying to act "normal." Robin knows that game well--she's been pretending for years, hoping nobody would notice the sarcastic polyglot French horn player with a bad perm in the back of the room. But there's one aspect of her identity that she knows for sure doesn't fit in with her image--Robin likes girls. How is she supposed to be her true self in teeny-tiny Hawkins, Indiana? Robin is convinced the only way she can experience real life is by fleeing to Europe for the summer--aka Operation Croissant. But she has no money, no permission, and no one to share the adventure with--and it will take a heck of a lot more than that to escape Hawkins in one piece. Sprinkled with references to your favorite Stranger Things characters, this prequel chronicles one girl's realization that the only person she really needs to be accepted by is herself. Review: Great Read! - This was a fantastic book; it had a great plot and really explained Robin's background and experience. I loved seeing her character development and the way she found herself, and how she finally admitted she liked girls. This was a great experience and an amazing LGBTQ+ representation. ~ Alice Review: Great book for fans! - My 6thgrader and have been watching Stranger Things for the first time and she loved it!

I Feel Like my Life has been One Big Error
I feel like my life has been one big error… Like most of the world, I fell in love with with Netflix’s Stranger Things. Unlike most of the world, I was three years late and didn’t pick it up until after the third season had already aired. And even then, I only picked it up because a friend told me just how disappointed she was in me because I was denying myself the experience of a really good show based in the 80’s with a lesbian character recently stepping into the role of a key character. Okay. That sold me. I don’t know about anyone else, but I fell in love with Robin Buckley. It’s not often that I relate so much to a character, but Robin Buckley pulls at my heart strings in every way possible. Which is why I went so far as to pre-order Rebel Robin the moment it was announced. Now, I’m really critical of books that are based on television shows or movies. They typically feel like a cash grab and aren’t anything more than a retelling of what you’ve seen on the screen. I was fully expecting to have a small backstory for a few pages and then have a retelling of Season 3 of Stranger Things from Robin’s point of view. Man was I pleasantly surprised. Rebel Robin follows Robin Buckley through a period of self discovery the begins at the start of her Sophomore year. She starts noticing that her friends are pairing off, that dating is really the hot topic of everyone around her. It’s not that she’s not interested in it, she just hasn’t found an interest in anyone. Instead, Robin’s convinced that she’s just interested in her studies… And befriending Tammy Thompson. Over the course of the book, Robin begins to come to terms with herself, her sexuality, and the fact that friends grow apart naturally. A story of things that go bump in the night, the desire to runaway, and the need to find self-acceptance, I would recommend this to anyone who’s a fan of Stranger Things or is in need of knowing they aren’t alone in feeling like an outcast. I really enjoyed this book. It hooked me from the first sentence and kept me reading until there was nothing left. It’s addicting and well written but it has a limited audience. It’s written for fans of the show, with easter eggs sprinkled in for fans to geek out over. If you’re not a fan? You may not enjoy this book to its best potential. And that’s okay! My biggest gripe is that the entirety of the last chapter/epilogue was very much fan service. Even though it’s well written, it feels out of place with the rest of the narrative. Other than that? This stands out as one of the best book adaptations of a show I’ve ever read.

Rebel Robin is a hit!
I loved hearing about Robin's back story. The narrator of this story is excellent as Robin. I could picture everything unfolding in my mind. I wish that Stranger Things would do some stand alone episodes even though the series has ended. This book is one of my favorites that I will have to revisit from time to time. If you love Robin and Stranger Things, you will love this book and audiobook.
