Love! Using as sofa.
First and foremost, I love this piece and we receive compliments on it constantly. For the perfectionist, this may be a bit of a project for you. We bought this piece to be used as a sofa in the middle of our living room. The problem with this is that the back is unfinished. So..I built a sofa back table that would cover most of it as you can see in the picture. However, I did not want it to be quite as tall as the sofa... So I took some fabric from the one piece of finished panel on the back, and stapled it on the very top back (that is the inch and a half portion you see above the table) just to give it a more finished look. We bought two 5-inch mattresses. While the 5-inch mattress on top does not cover the gap in the back, we really do not mind it because I stained the portion you see on the backside of the table I made, and eventually we will fill that gap with beautiful pillows. Also, we wanted it just a tad lower and decided not to put on the legs... There is nothing that could scratch the floor without them, it has a nice weight so there's no worry about it sliding around, and the trundle still slides in and out just fine... If anything, it closes up the gap between the top of the trundle and the panel right above.Assembly was easy...I read a few reviews that say it wasn't? I put it together in about an hour by myself. I am a handier girl than most though.A few warnings:1.We are using this as a sofa and therefore put a lot of weight onto it. While we love having the trundle portion, I would recommend if using it for this purpose to purchase it without the trundle and reinforce it with some wood or metal legs down the middle, which would be relatively cheap and easy to do and would increase the weight capacity significantly.2. Be prepared that if you intend on upholstering your top mattress to match the fabric... Good luck! The fabric is beautiful but it is a polyester slubbed linen-like look. It has a hint of purple and brown that make it very difficult to match (I bought the lighter gray) For the time being I just have an extra piece of fabric to protect the mattress, but I have finally found a matching fabric it is just a different texture. So I will be upholstering that soon.A few complaints to the company:1. The back support piece takes away about 4 1/2" from the mattress space. Why oh why Homelegance?2. If your side pieces extended out those four and a half inches then the back piece could come down all the way so that there would be no gap.. maximizing the mattress space!! Sounds like you need a genius like me working for you.. give me a call.3. For a little more money could you at least offer the option of having the back upholstered? And at the minimum.. have the link to the matching fabric to offer to your customers so we are not running around every fabric store like chickens with our heads cut off? Ok. Thanks.

Looks nice
Overall: I love the look of this daybed! It fits well in a small space and was the perfect addition to our office/den. Personally, I wouldn't put this in a living room or a primary bedroom, but it's perfect for the space we have.Assembly: From bringing the boxes (2) inside, unboxing everything, and assembling everything--with two people working diligently, it took about three hours. It's not terribly difficult to put together, but I would second what some other reviewers have said, and try to assemble the bed slats before putting the back on. In fact, we ended up just using screwdrivers instead of a drill and it was actually faster.Mattresses: I had a lot of questions about this before purchasing this daybed, so I wanted to share my experience here in case anyone else is curious. We bought a 2-pack of 6 inch mattresses. I was a little worried about it being too small or thin for the top, but they actually ended up being perfect. Again, if you were going to use this as a primary bed or sofa, I'd probably get a thicker mattress or a mattress pad for comfort, but for overall appearance, the 6 inch is fine.Rating: I'm giving this bed 4/5 stars. The reason I'm not 100% impressed is because:#1 one of the feet of the bed was broken into several pieces upon arrival. There was no way to fix the foot, and since our delivery had already been delayed, we didn't want to bother trying to get a replacement. We ended up putting the bed together without the feet on the bottom, and it looks fine, but still an inconvenience.#2 again, as other reviewers have said, I think the way the assembly directions are ordered makes the assembly more difficult than it should be. If you wait to put the back of the bed on after you've screwed in the slats, you'll probably finish faster.

1st order didn't work, second was fine. Make sure you do the slats prior to the back piece!
So ordered this for my daughter as she is finally ready for a more mature room. First time ordering, received the shipping confirmation. On day of shipping UPS rings door bell to tell me it would be in my best interest to reject shipping on it. Reason is the items were not packaged well at all and his exact words, "There is bed parts from one side of the warehouse to the other! We don't even know if you have everything!"So we rejected shipping and I contacted Amazon. They took care of it and sent a replacement right then. Fast forward another week, and UPS is again at my house. This time the boxes were reinforced with corner edging on them. Then fully wrapped in clear packing to ensure if it was damaged, at least we wouldn't loose a part. There is two boxes. One is 75lbs, the other 115lbs. They are HEAVEY and LARGE! I was able to struggle my way through the house to get them in the room. My friend came over to help me put it together. Upon unpacking, there was no directions so I had to pull them off of the homelegance website.Pretty easy to put together, however if using a drill, do the bed slats before you attach the back piece or else your drill will not fit. Took about 2 hours to put it all together. I would recommend scotch guarding to ensure no stains. Oh yes, it is rather high so just be aware of that.Overall I am happy with it and can't wait to surprise our daughter when she returns from grandma's house from summer.

Beautiful
We have had this bed for a year now and it still looks just as nice. The back is still plump, it pulls out easily, no structural problems. It arrived without any slats, but Amazon customer service was super nice and refunded us the money for us to buy a new set of slats. So I can't comment on the slats that would have come with it.It's really pretty and looks great and is a great piece. It's comfortable to lean on while in bed too.
