**Q: What is the wood species?**
A: Honestly not sure about what type of wood it is but it's strong and not flimsy.

**Q: Can the liner inside the lid be removed? i dont want the tool slot liner**
A: There isn't an actual liner. It's just some clips and some elastic bands. They aren't meant to be removed but you could forcibly remove them.

My daughter loves this thing. It’s light wood so it doesn’t feel very strong if it was dropped on hard surface but why would that happen? It’s great for what we wanted it for.

This is a great box, surprised it was so inexpensive.

Not as large as I expected, but maybe that's a blessing? I tend to over pack and it's forcing me to pair down to essentials. I plan to take this on a west coast train trip from Seattle to San Diego and I think the size will be perfect. My only complaint is that the wood and the leather strap seems cheap. I've already dinged the wood after one outdoor painting trip. If that doesn't bother you, then it's fine. I might end up painting the box and doing a coat of varnish or resin on it for extra durability. The strap may need to be replaced eventually. I do wish the elastic was slightly higher up because my pencils and pens don't quite clip on. But it's snug enough on the first 4 to not be a problem. I got a Faber-Castel collapsible cup and it fits perfect in the box. If I pack the case full, I can fit quite a bit in it. With all my brushes, pencils, pens, Exacto, erasers, cup, masking tape, and small 6" rule, I was still able to fit 10 Holbein acrylic gouache paints and at least 7+ brushes. I'm going to get some elastic to strap my paper pad to the outside, and then I'll be unstoppable! Muahahahahaha!
