Diluted boric acid has been used for centuries as eye care, and it's something that early medicine got right. It is a cleansing antiseptic/antibacterial/antifungal that quickly reduces itchiness and inflammation, and it is as safe for dogs as it is for humans. (Or maybe even more, because I don't know if dogs are ever allergic to boric acid, as humans rarely are.) That said, you should not ignore your dog's eye problems just because you have this wonderful product. But if you're waiting to take them to the vet or the signs are pointing towards dirt and debris instead of infection, this is wonderful to make the wait more comfortable for your pet. Just do not use for at least 24 hours before you see the vet so that she can make an accurate assessment. This product is excellent for rinsing out dirt/dust, moisturizing dry eyes (not chronic--see your vet), or treating allergy symptoms, of course! It calms itching, redness, decreases/eliminates runny eyes depending on the cause, makes tear stains easier to clean off, and is great for general eye health upkeep! And, not that I would replace proper veterinary care with it, but boric acid even treats mild-to-moderate conjunctivitis (aka "pink eye," "red eye")! Which is excellent because I recently adopted an adorable little lady with such a case terrorizing her poor eyes. Sadly, the vets that I saw could only give me an ointment, and my little girl just does not like having anywhere near her eyes touched. As a muscular dachshund with no tail, she is about as easy to wrangle as a greased pig if she doesn't feel like being caught. Combined with the absolute devastation to her trust in people that a successful application of the ointment brought, I simply could not manage to apply it 3 times a day. Her case is mild enough that the vet said it would be okay to save the treatment for a few weeks later when our relationship was stronger, but I still felt bad watching her scratch at her eyes and have white boogies stuck in the corners. So I started using this, and not only is there instant relief, but there has also been improvement of the redness and discharge altogether. This progress may not be as noticeable as it would if I could use her prescribed medication, but it's better for both of us than doing nothing. AND, very conveniently, since she is still unhappy about having her eye-area touched, the bottle can be squeezed to send a stream into the eye at weird angles when the dog will not cooperate with gravitational requirements of eye drops. When this solution touches the eyes, it is so soothing that she realizes it's not scary and is slowly getting used to having her eyes taken care of. I have another dog with chronically irritated and inflamed eyes because of his love of barking/staring into the wind and sun. Not to mention his little brother's love of licking his eyes and jumping on them with dirty paws when play-fighting... The medicine from the vet was super thick, made horrible tear stains that were hard to get rid of, and the dog hated it. Oh, also it did nothing for him! But a daily drop of this lovely stuff is an inexpensive, reliable solution to his problem. It keeps his eyes healthy and clean with regular use. He actually loves the drops so much that when you say "do your eyes" he will come wait right in front of you for you to put the drops in. This will ALWAYS be in my house as long as I have dogs!

Eye changing! I’ve spent 13 years trying different products for his eyes, with no avail until I tried this product. He’s black so I cannot comment if it helps the red staining but it certainly helps with the debris collected in the corner of his eyes. In between trying different products, I was using just warm tap water on a wash cloth. That was making it worse! This is eye changing. I use it with Physicians Care Eye Wash purified water 98.3%.

I highly recommend this product at least as a cheap way to try to fix your pet's eye irritation. Our dog had a very irritated eye. We think it was caused by her eye bumping into grass or getting hit by another dog's tail at the dog park. It turned red and she was squinting with mucous dripping occasionally. She would also try to itch it with her paw and/or rubbing it against furniture - not good since dogs can scratch their cornea and that is a major expense to repair (been there done that). A visit to the vet for something like an irritated eye is an easy $100-$250 just to have it looked at and for some sort of superficial treatment. So I wanted to try some sort of eye drops first. I searched the internet and YouTube. These drops were recommended and the price was worth trying to help her. When I got the drops, I applied them to my eyes first to make sure it wouldn't sting my dog's eyes (not recommended but that's what I did). There was no real sensation at all except the feeling of moisture and water, but unlike water - there was no burn from chlorination. I applied the drops three times the first day to my dog's eye and by the next day, I noticed an improvement in the morning. In fact, when I first applied the drops my dog wouldn't open her eye so I had to sort of pull it open. By the second day, she must have realized it made her feel better so she started keeping her eye open for the drops. She still flinches when the drops touch the eye, but that must just be an innate response since she opens it up right away for more. I highly recommend trying these drops to help your dog and to save you some cash. Her eyes are crystal clear, no redness and she's not acting like there's any irritation. Now I apply the drops to both her eyes every time we come back from the dog park or if she walks in tall grass. I hope this review helps you decide.

Came as shown without any damages on it because of how well the seller packaged it. It's a good eye rinse for dogs that have tear stains, allergies, or even a little debris of some kind. Gets the job done to remove it. It's quite small however and if you have a hyperactive, disobedient dog that'll move a lot when applying these type of drops then you're going to have a hard time getting the most out of it and will end up wasting more than what you apply on your pooch. It's easy to use on calm and obedient dogs that don't move a lot when applying this. In the end, it does what it's intended for, I just wish it wasn't so small and wouldn't run out so quickly, for me and my hyperactive, disobedient dog that is. I'd also like to mention it has no foul smell either.

I have an 8lb poodle mix who has huge eyes in a little white face. She gets brownish tracks from tears running down the inner corners. It sometimes smells really bad because of the bacteria/red yeast overgrowth. I don't want to put ointment in her eyes or give her antibiotics or bleach her fur. So I was gently flushing and cleaning the fur with a very thin stream of tap water every day but she started to get scared of being put in the sink for this. I researched this a lot and figured out that either witch hazel or boric acid seemed like the best bet for cleaning the fur. I decided I would cut the hair very short where the tracks run and go with a dilute boric acid solution to wipe the fur twice a day and try to keep the area very dry. I was worried about making my own boric acid solution. I thought about trying a human contact lens solution but then I found this product which is just a plain boric acid solution and nothing else. I am happy with the product. I use two Q tips dipped into the bottle and rub them on the track marks twice a day. Then I dry it well with a piece of tissue. After a couple of days doing this to clean and wipe the tracked area, the brown stains have faded to a very light tan that is really not very noticeable at all. It doesn't smell bad anymore. Plus my dog likes this strategy much better than the flushing with water. I think the basic principles here are to keep the area very clean (using any dilute astringent, I'm sure witch hazel would also be great also but I was worried because it is usually mixed with alcohol) and to keep the fur as dry as possible. The key is to kill the bacteria. Some people say it helps to clean the eyes before the dog goes to sleep for the night but I haven't really tested that. I may start adding a dab of cornstarch to the area. I heard that either cornstarch or baby powder can help in keeping the area more dry, although the result I have now just using the Nutri Vet solution is already so good I'm not motivated to do much more.

Haven’t seen anything to report, so far works as well as plain water. Kept finding leakage but came to find out the bottle was cracked, I originally thought it was leaking from bottle top. Too late to get a refund. Rinse came in handy when I was trying to flush something out of my doggy’s eye.

Cleared up a goooy eye in a couple days. Good quality product ..
