X-22 Backpacker Optic Mount Black

Real nice pic mount. Pretty slick that you can co-witness the original sights if your dot takes a dump. (If you remove the scope mount on the receiver / hope you didn’t lose the screws…)

If you use a Ruger 10-22 takedown rifle, this device allows use of a red dot sight without the risk of constant takedowns messing with aiming accuracy. It’s well-built and a must-have accessory. One minor issue: when installed there is interference with the Williams sites that come on the 10-22. Easy enough to adapt by filing a small groove in the mount to eliminate the interference with the stock site. But this is something that the manufacturer should do. Multiple purchasers have raised this issue with Magpul, so far without effect. Deducting one star based on this unresolved issue. Magpul, do the right thing and adapt this component to the current equipment that Ruger mounts on the 10-22!

The instructions are printed on a cardboard sleeve that is wrapped around the box. The removal and transfer of the factory internal parts was fairly easy. The 2 factory screws used to bolt the block to the barrel did not have a torque value so I applied blue thread locker and tightened them hand tight with an Allen wrench. I'd say it's around 25 inch pounds. The other screws/bolts have the torque specs listed in the instructions. Once it's all together and I mounted my Sig Sauer Romeo5 red dot optic it is very strong and rock solid. This optics mount only fits the rifle while using the Magpul X22 Back Packer stock. Together it is the best setup for the Ruger 10/22 Take Down. I have not had the chance to zero the rifle and test this setup and its ability to retain zero repeatability but from other reviews I have seen it should perform outstandingly. I will update this review after some use. Edit: This optics mount combined with the Back Packer stock is the best setup for any Ruger 10/22 Take Down. Shooting 1 inch groups at 50 yards and 2-3 inch groups at 100 yards. The Sig Sauer Romeo5 red dot sight is awesome as well. I highly recommend this setup!

Well constructed, fairly easy install, buyer should know it will not fit/work with a factory Ruger Takedown stock, only works with the Backpacker MagPul stock.

These are super easy to install and it allows you to attach a red dot sight directly to the barrel for better accuracy. A great addition to your takedown 10-22.
