How long do batteries last?

That would depend on the type of battery. I find Duracell to be the longest lasting, as well as how frequently and how long you have the radio on.

If it is on and the electric goes off will the radio be on when electric comes back on? I want to put it on a timer.

Not sure, but I believe it would be on. It is a very simple on/off switch - not digital. If switch is on & radio playing & electric goes off, it should be on when electric comes back on. It is a nice radio with great reception.

Does this have a dsp chip ?

This is such a simple cheap radio, I can't imagine it being digital. Analog I bet (I don't know for sure). Plays well but has zero options. Could have been made in 1970.

Small with lots of very high power to offer.

Rugged radio made very sturdy - Runs on 2 D size batteries - I tested it out on the batteries on the Coppertop brand & it lasted for at least 12 hours & more. I highly recommend this radio. Has a high pitch sound & can be played on the low end & you do not need much volume to power this bad boy up. All the FM Stations come in & I pick up some Distant AM stations 100 miles away at night. Go for it as this radio is worth the price. It makes me feel like I'm back in 1975 all over again!!
