Beware if have food Allergies &/or Gluten issues
We really like the flavor of the roast beef hash & were glad to find it because our nearby stores rarely carry that type. Need to warn you though: IF you have trouble with gluten, MSG, etc., like I do, you might not be able to tolerate this product ... I have gotten ill the last 3 times we've had this for our meal. It is definitely this product since I've had the meals at least a month apart & it was all I had to eat for several hours before the trouble starts. My finacé has never had any trouble though, so I"m sure it is my own health issues causing the reactions. I get both nausea & diarrhea every time - I'm sad because the flavor is very good & it is an easy quick meal to make. It may not crisp up as well as the other hash types, but we don't mind that. I hope this may help others to avoid the bad reaction - it usually takes me about 24 hrs to fully get over feeling bad after I get sick. I recommend taking good quality probiotics to help, IF you do experience the same problems. I like the one from BioInnovations (Probitocs + FOS), also the Sacromyces Boulardii (my spelling may be a little off) -most pharmacies/ health stores carry it now - think Jarrow is brand I use (the Probiotics+FOS is best taken either 2 hrs before or after meals. SB can be taken with our without food).

Wetter than the other two Mary Kitchen Hash products.
One of three hash products from Mary kitchen. This one is wetter out of the can and much harder to fry to a "crust" than the other two. Tastes good, but I will be sticking with the corned beef hash.

Roast beef hash for home
Excellent home stock of hash for last second choice for home cooked breakfast. I find this brand easy to use, competitively priced, not greasy or fatty.

Flavor
This is very greasy and a bit too salty for my tastes. I like it for breakfast with a soft fried or soft boiled egg on top. It is good for any meal of the day! Easy and convenient. I like the texture, too.

Delicious and filling!
A delicious and hearty Breakfast! I brown it with some diced onions and plenty of pepper then shove it to the side of the frying pan and add a couple of eggs... over medium or scrambled.

Handy and tasteful entree
So, it's dinner time, but you're tired and not in a mood to cook a complex entree. You just want something simple. Hash would fill the bill. Meat and potatoes. Mary Kitchen roast beef hash by Hormel has acceptable taste and texture, and few obnoxious additives other than 900 mG of salt per can. The bits of potato and beef are cut small, which allows for quick heating in a skillet. If you've got the energy and your personal plumbing allows, toss in some chopped sweet onion, and maybe some celery or orange pepper. If you want a bit more protein, stir in an egg, and maybe plop a handful of grated Cheddar on top. Easy Peasy. Your entree is served. Hormel's Mary Kitchen Roast Beef Hash has 350 calories and 21 G of fat per can, which you might not want to consume frequently, but if hash will cure your hunger, this is one of the better canned hashes on the market. One 14 oz can makes one entree for a big guy, or two decent-sized entrees for a vintage couple. A can should still be good on the shelf for three years.

I’m delighted with this purchase.
First time ever eating this. I liked it a lot. Simple and tasty. Adding an egg or two, maybe some country gravy… It can be the basic part of any dish you can conjure up..! Great to just have on hand.
