The Cerebral Palsy Tool Kit: From Diagnosis to Understanding Paperback – November 1, 2015

I am a nurse in the Rehabilitation world. My patients are children and adults, and a good number of them live with Cerebral Palsy. We give this book to each family that receives this diagnosis. The information provided is well written and is an important tool for families impacted by CP.

I hope that every parent of a child with cerebral palsy, and every clinician treating children with CP, finds this book. No where else can you get such a clear and supportive overview of what you need to know and what you can do to help your child and support your family. The author pulled together resources from clinicians and therapists around the world and summarized in a way that you don't have to be an expert to understand. So much is happening so fast in this field that many people who treat children won't be aware of all the potential that is available. Moreover, it is edited by parents to support other parents, so it also deals with the emotional side of being in a family with CP. I can't recommend this any more highly. It has helped me in so many ways.

Full disclosure: I am part of the parent leadership committee of this tool kit but I still want to let parents/caregivers know that I would have l loved to have this about seven years ago when our son was diagnosed with cerebral palsy officially at age two approximately. There really isn't anything else like this available from a parent perspective combined with expert medical advice from leaders in the cerebral palsy field.

This is easy to read and easy to understand. Not too long and handy to bring with you to doctor appointments. Written by parents, therapists and physicians, it provides support and guides caregivers through the initial diagnosis of CP.

It is the most informative book I have ever read to help people understand and navigate the many challenges facing those with CP.
