gets warmer than I would like you have to watch where it is sitting lasted approximately 2 1/2 years before it melted it self and quit working it is rated at 8.5 amps which I feel is the very max and should not be used on any product that requires a 6.5-8 amp load as it would likely start on fire would not recommend this product

Works as expected
It works as one would expect. No problems and I've used it for a long time for a million candle power spotlight that I use in the car mostly, but I like to be able to use from the patio at times too so I can watch the cubs and the porcupines... This little device allows me to do just that! :)

very reliable, several years of usage
Has worked very well, runs 12.8v without any load but will drop below 11v with a larger load. Not an issue for most 12v appliances

The one that came with my portable Fridge got way to hot. This one still gets pretty warm, but better, not great.
