Great short sword
Just as it was described. It was sharp and balanced. Really nice cowhide leather sheath With a snap to hold sword in place and two wearing type features: over the head and shoulder or from the belt. Be careful on pull from back to not cut your ear off. LoL. It made easy work of a 1/2” to I” limb on tree in yard! It has a good wooden lathed handle. And the Damascus steel looks fantastic with the double edge and blood groove. It was sealed tight in cellophane and tape when it arrived. I would say it is of great quality and good value. I wish I had two to crisscross on my back; then maybe would lose both ears! Ha!

Great tool.
This will destroy whatever you want it to. I find it funny how someone would complain about tiny details on a beater. Its solid and sharp enough. Any true swordsman would tell you that "too sharp is NOT good sharp for a sword" This is not a movie prop. The only thing I was slightly "disappointed" with -was the color of the sheath. It was NOT black, it was brown, so I took a whole 5 minutes out of my life and sprayed it black. Done. Looks great. If you're looking for a show off sword this isn't your Viking blade. But if you're looking to use it Viking style, this is the real deal. They weren't into making pretty/cutesy stuff back then anyway. This was made for one purpose and one purpose only. I say A+ if this is the size you're looking for. Lets not forget about the price. Can't go wrong.

Nice, quite sharp
It's not as sharp as a kitchen knife, but it is much sharper than the stainless blades you see around. It appears to be hand made - the blood grooves, for example, are not quite straight or parallel, but that just adds to the charm. With a 17" blade it is a two or three inches too short to br a Gladius type sword. Mine has a small incursion (1/8") next to one of the blood grooves - no big deal, again, it is hand made. The pattern welding makes it quite pretty. Fine as a wall hanger, the high carbon steels make it pretty sharp, but I don't know if the toughness would be enough for actual combat. Maybe it would be ok.

Beautiful short sword for an incredible price.
While the price made the claim that it was real forge welded aka Damascus steel. Close examination shows that it is damascus steel. The weight is also substantially heavier than a basic wall hanger as well. This baby is stout. The fullers are ground in instead of forged and a slight imperfection is a pretty good indication that they were hand ground. The balance is a bit blade heavy, but as Doug Marcaido from "Forged in Fire" would say "It will Keelll". I do custom leatherwork including my own sword sheaths, so I'll replace the generic on that came with it, but the sheath is perfectly fine. If I had known it was at the post office on time, I would've taken it to an SCA event this past weekend.
