No but I suppose you could use for sourdough starter.

Is this jug heatproof?

So far so good. After I heat the water in order to pour it into this container with my tea bags I haven't had a problem yet. Prior to the pouring though I do run hot water out of the tap around the bottom half of jar so that the bottom half of glass is not ice cold but I don't know if that helps or not!

I use it for my Kombucha, so I don't use the lid. I cover mine with the cheese cloth. Sorry, never used it.

Can i use this to hold my black tea . it’s gonna be boiling hot. i hear kombucha is tea but idk if it’s hot or cold tea so i had to ask?

Yes, you start with hot tea. I would head up the jar with other warm/not boiling water before you pour boiling water in since any cold glass jar could crack with boiling water poured in it. I used this to make my Kombucha with and it was fine.
