Review: Beautiful Beast - This is my first ESSE knife, but won't be my last. Feels great, looks great and it's bigger and heavier than I expected. The sheath is decent, but I'd likely upgrade to Kydex if I was using this outdoors often or if I was going to 'The Sandbox.' It's shaving sharp right out of the box and seems very capable of taking (and dishing-out) a lot of abuse. I'm very pleased with this knife and I haven't even cut anything with it. Lifetime warranty, too. Buy one.
Review: Esee’s are my favorite knife brand - Let me start by describing the knife to you. The fit and finish is excellent. The powder coating on the blade is second to none. The 1095 steel is quenched at minus 300 degrees Fahrenheit which takes it to another level. The blade is laser etched with the Esee logo and the Rowen and made in the USA banners. The grip is all black on mine with the 3d and grip enhancing grooves. The color of the blade is desert tan. The sheath is excellent and need not be replaced. Retention is a solid click in place and it has a spring clip for your belt. All in all an impressive knife. Normally when I buy a knife I have to replace the scales and go on the search for a new sheath that I can live with. Not so here. This is a package that you don’t have to shell out $ to replace anything. 1095 is the perfect steel for a survival knife since it can be sharpened in the field and is a tough steel that can handle shock and abuse (don’t abuse your knives). So if you take an $80-$100 we’ll built 1095 survival knife, add $50 for scales and another $50 for a decent sheath and you are $180-$200 into a lesser knife which actually makes this one at $150 a solid value! And if all that is not enough, if you DO manage to break this, Esee has a lifetime “no questions asked” replacement policy. Randall Adventure Training are survival experts and they designed and built this knife. What more could you want?

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What all comes in the box?**
A: Knife, sheath, belt clip, fasteners, decal, paperwork. I am very pleased!

**Q: What are the differences between the esse 4,5, and 6?**
A: ESEE knives are named after the nominal length of the blade (ESEE 6 has a 6.5" long blade, the ESEE 5 has a 5.25" long blade, etc.). Worth noting, however, that the ESEE 5 has a thicker blade than the 6 or the 4, and is significantly heavier (the ESEE 5 is about 16 ounces, the ESEE 6 about 12 ounces). The ESEE 6 is (in my opinion) a more versatile knife for things like camping, food preparation, slicing, etc. and that's the first knife I purchased within the ESEE brand. I'd consider the ESEE 5 for survival, etc. or any use where you really need the knife to be almost impossible to destroy. It's a beast of a knife, but probably *not* the most versatile. The ESEE 4 is a lighter and shorter version of the ESEE 6, which can be a little much given its blade length. It's probably the most versatile of the three, and for normal camping, etc., it's probably the best choice for all-round use. I'd very much suggest selecting one of the ESEE versions with the newer "shaped" micarta handles (they may call them "3D") rather than one with the older design flat handles. MUCH more comfortable to use, especially if you need to do some repetitive tasks iike cutting or chopping branches for firewood.

**Q: the overall blade length is given as 5.75 while all other Esee 6's are listed as 6.5. Is this just a mistake or is the knife a different size?**
A: The blade is overall length: 6.50", cutting edge length: 5.75″.

**Q: before I purchase, I see comments about being for small hands, making it prone to slipping if you have large hands. truth or nonsense?**
A: Not sure why ppl are saying that, but it's 100% NOT true. I have large hands and the handle fits me very well with room to spare. And the G10 grips are anything but slippery!
