Loudness is Safety
This little bell is very simple. It is made out of only a few pieces of metal, and is very attractive. None of that really matters, though. What matters is you can hear this thing from space. If you press the hammer down and let this thing go, it makes a pulse of sound that goes about as far as the eye can see. When biking, ringing a bell when approaching an intersection or a blind corner on a trail is the only way you can safely draw attention to yourself. This sound will pierce the veil of a rolled up window and a cabin full of music, or easily bring eyes up and pedestrians to the side of a wooded trail. Simply made and sturdy as the day is long, well worth it in a world of cutesy tools that have forgotten their real purpose.

Makes her unique.
A delightful lady had several bicycle bells previously and they didn't hold up. She used them to cheerfully announce her presence with her wheeled walker. I replaced her last previous one with this classy bell. It looks impressive, was easy to install, and is easy for her to operate. She can vary the intensity of the bell tone by how far she pulls the lever before release. The bell tone is certainly attention-getting, is very loud at maximum release, and lingers unless the bell itself is touched to damp it. If I wanted a bell for my bike to use in areas of heavy crowds, I would definitely buy this.

Very clear and loud.
This bell is great. Loud, long lasting ring. Looks great, too.

great sounding bell with no plastic!
I'm not sure about longevity of the bell. It's only 4 months on my bike. But it is a very cutting yet pleasant metallic 'Ding!' sound that everyone has heard so far. It looks kind of old fashioned, but when it finally dies, you can guilt free recycle it! Typical excellent Japanese quality.

Great Vintage Looking Bell
Absolutely love this bike bell. I was a little hesitant to buy it as it was more then I would noramlly spend on a bike bell but I am glad I went ahead and purchased it. The bike bell is lovely-the color (which i was afraid would differ from the online photo) came just like pictured. It was easy to attach to the bike and gives a very loud and clear sound when rung. Everything appears to be strudily made and put together so I am also very pleased with the quality of the bell. It's a great accessory and fits my bike perfectly (I have a Retrospec Siddartha). Highly recommended!

Great sound with a few quirks...
I bought this bell after hearing one on a group bike ride in the Portland metro area. Installation was pretty simple, but balancing the clamp and getting the screws threaded was a little tricky. Also, the bell has some dead notes, depending on how the trigger is actuated. Thus, when in alert mode, I am not always able to finesse the trigger "just so". It's a little annoying, but I'm betting muscle memory will take over eventually. The bell works great when riding along multi-use paths (the sound carries around blind corners well), and works for the most part to alert drivers. It's not as effective as I had hoped with drivers cutting in front or trying to turn from a perpendicular street, but I've come to accept that if a driver doesn't associate the sound with a bike, they're going to keep on driving like they do. I've adapted my routes to help alleviate car interactions. Anyway, it's a cool bell. Love the copper coloring, and glad I bought it!

the gold, err brass standard of bike bells
there's a reason these economical yet elegant crane bells have been unchanged in forever. They're perfect. Loud chime, satisfying lever snap, and versatile placement options (mine is bolted vertically to a high rise nitto technomic stem) outside of the much more pricey spurcycle bell, I can't think of a better bike bell on the market.

Worth the money
This bell is awesome. The sound is very musical with good sustain. If is also capable of making the loudest sound I have ever heard from a bike bell, perfect for high traffic situations. You can modulate the volume based on how hard you push the spring loaded arm before release. The copper version is also quite attractive, and provides a nice complement to my Brooks saddle. The bell also seems very well made. I expect it to last me for years.

Nice bell, does not fit most tricycles but....
It's a really nice shiny and loud bell. I bought it for my sons Radio Flyer tricycle but it was too big for the handle bars so I had to improvise wrapping electrical tape tightly around in the same spot a dozen times to thicken it up and put the bell on, it's not going anywhere now and the tape is not noticeable.

Great at first but fails in crummy weather
This bell is beautiful and was so so loud when I first got it - BUT I keep my bike outside and after the rain/snow it simply makes almost no sound at all. Tried fixing /adjusting and greasing but to no avail - My previous bells have not been as loud at first but have held up through crappy winters much better.
