Punky Atlantic Blue Semi Permanent Hair Color - Vegan & Cruelty-Free Conditioning Hair Dye, Lasts Up to 35 Washes, 3.5 fl oz

The last time my hair was deep blue was way back in the 90's, so I wondered how the world of deep, brite, vexing colors had changed. I've been blonde, chestnut brown , frosted, and the last few years I've gone back to my natural auburn - playing with a wide array of reds. I wanted a real change that would get noticed. Researching the world of blues, I came upon your brand and it had everything I was looking for. What a deep, beautiful midnight blue this is. My husband couldn't take his eyes off me - he loved this color. Everywhere I went, I got lots of positive comments on the way this color sparkles, especially in the sunlight. It takes some careful planning to get all set up to color, of course this is expected with such a deep pigment, so follow the directions, make sure you have plenty of bleach and comet on hand to wash out your sink, bathtub and any re-usable items like clips and combs,etc. Use a fresh pair of disposable plastic gloves when you color, when you rinse your hair, and for at least the first two times you shampoo it after you color. TIPS: ALWAYS use old towels and washcloths because no matter how careful you are, you're bound to get dye on something. Dab your hairline around your face and ears with Vaseline - if no Vaseline, use any hair conditioner instead - smooth out along your hairline, being careful NOT to touch your hair. The dye will not set on hair that has any greasy film on it. Make sure your hands are totally dry before you put on your plastic gloves. Sprinkle a little baby powder into them & shake to cover the inside. As the dye is very aggressive, the powder assures an extra barrier of protection to keep your skin and nails clear of the color. I have acrylic nails so to protect them, I also cover each one - paying close attention to covering all of the cuticle area, even UNDER the nail - with a coat of liquid peel off tape. Since Punky has no harmful chemicals, I leave it in for sometimes 2 hours before rinsing so the color comes out deep and rich. To do this right, you need to choose a day and time when you will not be disturbed for at least 4 hours. This will allow time for careful set-up, leave-in time, and to clean up sinks, tub and equipment when you're done. I've used this beautiful blue twice and this month I combined Punky Atlantic blue with streaks of Punky Violet! An amazing combination which has gotten me glowing comments. My husband says it looks like Blue Velvet! These colors are rich and long lasting, if you don't wash your hair every day. My hair is always shiny and healthy. I love these awesome colors and consider myself a loyal, lifetime customer! Now to decide which radiant Punky color I will be next month!

Update on my views on this hair dye. I purchased a large batch of these last year (don't live in the USA, so buy a lot at once) and I have been very disappointed with every jar I've opened so far. Though the label says 'Atlantic Blue' I am no longer getting the blue that I'm used to. The colour is still blue, but rather than getting a deep blue with a bit of turquoise, I'm getting turquoise. Perhaps Jerome Russell changed the formula. This is a very good hair dye. The exact colour you get will depend on your hair; I get different shades of deep blue and turquoise; some strands take the colour more deeply than others. I love it! I love the variation in colours throughout my hair. The dye is easy to apply. You need gloves and a comb - If your hair is black, like mine, you obviously have to bleach it first at a salon. - Wash your hair with a clarifying shampoo and hot water. Wash it a couple of times to get all the oils and conditioners out. - The instructions say your hair should be dry, but I've used it on towel dried and it was ok. - Use the comb or toothbrush to apply it to your hair in sections (I have bleached streaks). Make sure to coat the strands well. - Keep the dye off your skin and wash off asap unless you want blue skin! - leave in for 1-3 hours. - Shampoo out with a mild shampoo. Use gloves for this too. - Use gloves the next couple of times you shampoo, or you'll have blue-tinged finger nails. - Moisturising your hair is essential, especially if it was bleached. - My hair brightens with every shampoo, going from dark blue to a beautiful turquoise; - This dye is semi-permanent; it does not run if you get caught in the rain, but the more you wash your hair, the brighter the colour will get. Swimming in the sea and pools will obviously speed that up and eventually fade your hair. - Mix some of the dye with some hair conditioner and condition your hair with this mixture to replenish the colour (use gloves). This is a really easy way to keep the colour going. I've been using this dye for over a year now, and am very happy with it. I'm still taken aback by the compliments I get.

This product was really nice in my hair and I recommend it if you don’t intend it to last that long. The best part was the color was really vibrant. I got the Atlantic blue and the color was very clearly seen it doesn’t look exactly like it but it probably just because my hair is darker. The color was way better than the amount of time it stayed. It stayed for 2 days even though the product is clearly labeled 40 washes. Overall it is pretty good.

I love the color and saturation of punky blues but they don't quite last as long as the other colors I've tried. Faded after 2 to 3 weeks and needed re-application.

Terrible product! Complete junk! My hair is dark brown however I have a lot of pure white/grey hair and grow out. Stuff is easy to use and smells great and makes your hair smell great ... THATS IT! I let it sit on my hair for almost an hour just to insure and assume that the color would really grab especially or at least to my grey hair. Nope! Rinse it all out and blew dry. BARELY noticeable hue of blue! The fun part came they next day when I noticed my pillow case was completely ruined from the “dye” and the spot where I had been laying on the couch ... BLUE! The stuff came off on my hands every time I touched my hair, under my finger nails every time I scratched my scalp. The very next day I shampooed my hair with a strong clarifying shampoo in hopes to get the dye out that was at least rubbing off on everything out and ... bam it all 100% washed fully out zero trace of dye! How was that supposed to last 30 washes LoL? Complete junk, waste of time and mess!!!

vivid color and lasts. no notes

I am a smurf... just from washing the blue out.... im covered...smothered....dyed and laughing with tears.....about 45 minutes of exfoliating etc with everything I can find to scrub with....and I'm 75% normal. We will see how long it takes to fade. Head to feet....oh what a sight....The color is almost a black blue... darker than what I wanted.... right now ...im blue from blue... and my whole shower is too... Update.... it took few days for color to fade. Back of my neck prob 5 as it was last to fade. The color faded to a pretty blue for probably 3 washes then it faded dramatically to a weird greenish color and now its 90% gone. So I had 2 or so weeks of hair adventure. My kids have used the pink and purple tones with better luck. The dark pink one stuck to my daughter's blond like crazy. Lighter pinks faded quicker. I'll never do blue tones again....ever. lol. Still scrubbing my shower 🚿......

absolutely love punky color. ive used it twice now, first time was the 'apple green' %100 recommend, second time was one of the blues absolutely love. never regret it at all, it is always as expected, smells great and most importantly it fades BEAUTIFULLY. I didn't try to preserve it, I take hot showers regularly use a strong shampoo, and use slot of heat on my hair, this stuff stayed for 3 months! and In the pictures, if you notice my hair from the blue looks green ish that's because I put it over the remaining green, it will look true to color on your hair ❤ ! and i absolutely loved my green. and side note I dont get what people mean by it stains everything, any hairdye will stain but this hasn't stained any of my stuff besides if you get it on a white floor.
