Good CPU fan
This fan works great! It is installed on Asus Tuf gaming z790 plus mother board over an Intel 12700k! No over heating issues. I didn’t like any of the bulky CPU cooling heat sinks. It was hard to press in to lock to the MB. Make sure you’re pushing from the other side while installing so you don’t potentially crack your MB. Does need some improvements on that. The fan has good contact with the factory installed CPU paste after installation.

Amazing for the price
If you know what you're getting these are an incredible deal. No it won't enable the full performance of your i7 - but for lower-end systems it's just a solid basic cooler, and PWM means it's quiet at idle. I agree the mounting is annoying. Make sure you are prepared with a clean well-lit work area, some decent hand/arm strength, and maybe something to support your motherboard behind the CPU area so that you can push these pins with the force required.

Pay A Little More for Something Better
ARCTIC Alpine 17 CO - CPU Cooler, 92 mm PWM Fan TL;DR - This is certainly a budget cooler, so if you're pinching every penny and need something to simply "work", then this may be your best bet, but only for light/moderate loads. This cooler will work just fine for basic things like home/office use (internet browsing, Youtube, music/movies, Powerpoint, Word, etc.). Anything more - like 2K/4K gaming or especially video/audio editing - and it will likely struggle to maintain decent temps. If you plan on hardcore gaming or something more strenuous, then spend an extra $20 and get something better. (Off-topic: Quality air coolers CAN cool high end builds that run 4K resolution + high graphics so long as the rest of the case has good airflow; liquid cooling is not always needed!) The biggest drawback is the mounting scheme and will likely cause first-time builders to quit or not mount the cooler properly. It uses plastic push-down pins (and swivel to lock) to exert pressure on the motherboard mounting holes. There is no backplate which, in theory, is easier/faster to install, but in practice it's not. While this design works, it's an absolute pain in the butt to mount properly. I thought the motherboard was going to split due to the amount of pressure I had to apply just to get the pins to set. (For reference, I've installed many air and liquid coolers of various brands in the past - this one was by far the most stubborn.) Under a quick stress test and moderate load, the Arctic Alpine 17 CO cooler kept the 12600K at/under 65C. Functionally, it works (with performance limitations in mind) just fine. Came with thermal paste already applied; wasn't dried out and seems to be decent quality, though, unknown what brand it is.

thanks i hate it
Maybe it's just user error, but i have installed AIOs and tower coolers just fine, yet THIS cooler always was the most difficult to install by far and always caused me the most problems. Why? Rather than screws it has these push pins which you need to perfectly distribute the pressure on all four of them simulateously or else when you push the fourth one in then another will pop out. Even if you spend ages trying to get it just right, the pins don't grip very tightly, if you pick up the PC and set it down, the slight bump from it touching the ground is sometimes enough to slightly knock the cooler loose causing the PC to overheat and shut off when you turn it on. If you need a cheap fan cooler for a lower-end CPU, get one that screws into a back plate and not this garbage!

If you have a PC or laptop with the Intel Socket LGA 1700, you might need a compatible CPU cooler to keep your processor cool and quiet. The ARCTIC Alpine 17 CO is a CPU cooler that features a 92 mm PWM fan, a radial heatsink, a top blower design, a 4-pin connector, and a ball bearing for continuous operation. It is designed to provide efficient cooling for mainstream users who want a simple and affordable solution. ----Pros--- +The ARCTIC Alpine 17 CO has a low installation height of only 68.2 mm, which makes it compatible with most all-in-one systems and SFF cases (Mini-ITX, µATX, etc.). It also has pre-applied MX thermal paste and pre-mounted push pins, which allow effortless installation, even for beginners. +It has a PWM-controlled fan that can adjust its speed from 250 to 2700 RPM, depending on the CPU temperature and load. This provides the necessary flexibility and balanced cooling performance for different scenarios. The fan also has a low noise level of only 0.3 sones at maximum speed, which is barely audible. +It has a Y-shaped fin design that ensures optimal heat distribution in the heatsink. The heat dissipation profits significantly from its large surface area and high airflow rate. The top blower design also helps to cool down the surrounding components on the motherboard, such as the VRM and RAM. +It has a ball bearing that ensures a long lifespan and reliability of the fan. It can withstand continuous operation for up to 10 years without losing performance or generating noise. It also has a low power consumption of only 1.08 watts, which saves energy and reduces heat. ---Cons--- -The ARCTIC Alpine 17 CO is not the most powerful CPU cooler on the market, especially when it comes to cooling high-end processors that have high TDPs or overclocking potential. If you are looking for the best cooling performance possible, you might want to consider other CPU coolers that have larger fans, thicker heatsinks, or liquid cooling systems. -It is not the most aesthetically pleasing CPU cooler on the market, either. It has a plain black color scheme and no RGB lighting or other fancy features. If you are looking for a CPU cooler that can enhance the look of your system, you might want to consider other CPU coolers that have more attractive designs or customization options. ---Reasons to Buy---- -You should buy it if you need a compact and quiet CPU cooler that is compatible with the new Intel Socket LGA 1700. You will get enough cooling performance for your everyday needs without spending too much or compromising on quality and durability. -You should buy it if you are a mainstream user who mainly uses your PC or laptop for browsing the web, watching videos, playing games, or doing office work. -You will enjoy a smooth and silent operation of your system without worrying about overheating or noise issues. ---Reasons to Avoid--- -You should avoid it if you need a powerful or beautiful CPU cooler that can handle high-end processors or overclocking scenarios. You might be disappointed by its cooling performance or its appearance compared to other CPU coolers that have more advanced features or designs. -You should avoid it if you are a power user who frequently runs multiple applications or heavy workloads that require high cooling performance and endurance. You might experience thermal throttling or reduced lifespan of your processor due to its limited cooling capacity or its radial heatsink design. -----------Conclusion----------- The ARCTIC Alpine 17 CO is a compact and quiet CPU cooler that provides efficient cooling for mainstream users who have PCs or laptops with the new Intel Socket LGA 1700. It is suitable for users who want a simple and affordable solution that can keep their processors cool and quiet without taking up too much space or generating too much noise. However, it is not the best choice for users who need the highest cooling performance or aesthetics possible from their CPU coolers.
