OXFORD UNIVERSITY PRESS Taxation: A Very Short Introduction

A good intro (unsurprisingly)
Given I was shortly going to be mainly working with tax, I thought it would be a good idea to get a reasonable heads up as to the basics. Not only does this book cover those basics, but it also sets out very clearly the origin of those basics, taking you back through the history of taxation. Whilst that might be a bit boring in a long book, the length here is perfect, and opens up a lot of doors to delve deeper if you so wish. You're not going to be setting up your company's tax affairs with this book, but it's certainly a good place to start.

The subject looks boring, but the author made it clear and interesting
A surprisingly interesting book, even for non tax-experts.

An excellent reference
A relatively up to date survey of the basic approaches to taxation, why do it, what it tries to accomplish
