Good stuff.
The original taste is not enticing, but it's easily disguised and there's a definite increase in energy shortly after taking it.It dissolves easily and doesn't upset the digestion. A quality product at a modest price.

Was what I expected
This package arrived exactly as I expected in perfect condition and it came with a scoop. I've transferred the powder to a jar for easier handling. I've not used Amla powder before, but I understand it is packed with antioxidants. The taste is purported to be very astringent and not what you'd call delicious or even agreeable so I wasn't expecting to "like" it. After reading many reviews and controversies on other brands of a similar product, I decided to purchase this one. It is labeled USDA Organic. That's the best I can hope for since I'm unsure what it is supposed to look like or actually taste like other than astringent. So my contents are almost a cocoa powder brown and very powdery - similar to the consistency of cornstarch or powdered sugar. And the taste is very astringent as I was expecting.Instead of polluting my entire smoothie, I poured maybe 1/4 scoop (assuming the scoop is 1 tsp. size) in a pile on top of my smoothie and ate it with a spoon. It was ok. I can use a half scoop next time. I take it like medicine and drink the smoothie after it.

It works
I tried Amla with sweetened drinks but it did not taste that great. I tried it with just plain water and it actually tastes really good. Very lemony and refreshing. The good: My A1C dropped 0.6 points in 2 months and that was just using half a scoop a couple of times a week. I slowly increased my intake to a full scoop once a day.The bad: Due to the high Vitamin C content, it can cause acid reflux. Try drinking it in the morning with lots of water. What to look out for: Watch your water intake because Amla can cause you to become dehydrated. Drink lots of water. In the beginning Amla definitely resulted in more bathroom trips but my body appears to have adjusted to it now. I've read that you need to be careful if you are already taking blood pressure medicine as it can also lower your blood pressure. Ditto for if you're taking blood sugar meds or are hypoglycemic as it can lower your blood sugar. Start by using smaller amounts, eat after you take it and check for any unexpected effects.Like any supplement be really careful if you are already taking meds or already have low blood pressure or are hypoglycemic. Make sure you read the literature about Amla and don't just rely on reviews.12/23/18 I stopped taking Amla because the high acid content was causing acid reflux. A happy surprise was discovering that I could still lower my A1C and lose weight by removing artificial sweeteners from my diet. Apparently sweeteners damage the microbiomes in your gut. Through mechanisms still not well understood a varied microbiome is essential for losing weight. I eat lots of whole grains, veggies and fruit but sweeteners undermined that effort. I've lost over 20lbs since cutting artificial sweeteners out of my diet. My A1C is now back in normal range. If you can't tolerate Amla because of reflux consider not using sweeteners instead. Amla did start the process of lowering my A1C so I'd use it again if acid reflux was not a factor.

Slightly Citrusy / Slightly Chalky!
I was worried this might taste horrible (after all the negative flavor reviews), but the flavor is barely anything. Even a heaping spoonful in a 32oz mason jar, is barely zesty/citrusy in the most subtle way. It does have a chalky pucker up texture about it, but something I could easily drink daily! Add some lemon juice, mix with other green powders, or add it to oats, etc and it would be like it's not even there. If you're buying for the health, do not be scared by the flavor!!

Highly Recommend Amla Powder
Bought this Amla powder because i'd heard about the many health benefits it has . Started taking it in November of 2017 . Only measured out about a quarter teaspoon into a glass of water daily . Now it's not the best tasting but it is tolerable . This terrible flu was going around , people actually dying from it and my family that i live with came down with it . Now i normally know evey year i can expect to catch whatever flues are going around . That's just the way it is with me as i'm older , don't like flu shots , don't get flu shots . Never once did i come down with ANY flu even tho everyone in my household did . The only thing i did differently was take the Amla powder daily . It also gives you good energy once you get it into your system after a few days . I mean you feel great !!!! I will be starting it again around the end of Oct.2018 to get it in my system before flu season gets going . I highly recommend this product . And you get a huge bag for little cost . It lasts a long , long time . Very , very happy with this product .
