This is a very sturdy, well built toy . It is quite large , made of strong plastic with a metal dump body . It is well three year old proof,and he loved it

My youngest loves this truck. It' s larger than the original one, takes some stick and has been up/down a few hills. No breakage.

Fabulous, Tough Boy toy for my 2 year Grandson. Tonka still produce great Quality 👍 Although a little more expensive because of the Tonka name it was worth every penny. He's only 2 and theres no sharp corners or bits easily broken with little hands. He absolutely loves it ❤️ He will be playing with this for a few years to come. And it will probably look as good as it does today. Mainly for playing in the garden and as his Nanny I'm confident its safe and robust enough to endure a 2 year old battering it. Highly recommended this Tonka 👌. He's in love with it. Proper Boy Toy !!!

Proper toy truck. Nothing fancy but big and solid.

Bought for my grandson. Just as I remember them being when I bought Tonka toys for my sons, all those years ago. Well-made, strong and nicely finished. I was actually surprised that the cost didn’t seem to have risen too much. There’s no doubt, this is a tough, durable toy. I hope he has many years of happy play.

As with the Tonka crane that I've reviewed, this toy is once again high quality and appears strong but is mostly plastic as opposed to steel as the name would suggest. Only the bed and the axles are steel, everything else is plastic. This doesn't detract from the quality, and as before, our son does love it and could probably put most of his 15kg onto it without issue. Quality control appears to be good, but one gripe is that the bed attaches to a bracket that in turn attaches to the chassis with a couple of tabs as well as rivets. When the bed is lifted, those tabs make a loud "ping" sound where they've shifted in their recesses. Other than this, it's clearly a strong toy that will be able to take a beating and we will buy more to add to his collection.

Very robust great for a 3 year old

I bought this for my 2-year-old nephew for his birthday because he’s obsessed with trucks, and I remembered the old steel Tonka toys from when we were kids. Turns out my sister and brother-in-law had specifically been trying to find a metal truck for him and couldn’t—everything they’d seen was lightweight plastic. This one delivered exactly what we were hoping for. The steel dump bed gives it real weight and durability, and the plastic parts feel thick and well-attached rather than flimsy. It survives being loaded, dumped, pushed across concrete, and generally abused the way a toddler actually plays. No sharp edges, no tiny parts, nothing that feels fragile. Most importantly: he uses it constantly. It’s become a go-to toy, not something that gets played with once and forgotten. That’s usually the best test of all. If you’re looking for a classic-style Tonka that feels like a real toy instead of a disposable plastic one, this hits the mark. Simple, tough, and nostalgic in the right way—without trying to be gimmicky. Would buy again without hesitation.
