Very well made; like most hoods, it's not flocked
This is an ET-74B hood for Canon RF 100-400 lens. It is well made and fits well. I suppose it closely matches the one made by Canon in quality and design. It attaches easily and clicks into place. You have to jiggle it very slightly when taking it off, but I didn't deduct any points for that. It's certainly better than some other lens hoods I have bought. There are some excellent qualities that I have not seen before in non-OEM lens hoods. It's quite stiff around the diameter where it fits to the lens. That means that it doesn't distort when you try to attach it, so it fits well and it's easy to attach. It clicks into place, and a well-placed button releases it from the lens. It can be reversed for compact storage. There are two marks to position it correctly for mounting in either position. There is one feature which may be either good or bad. The inside has a black, matte surface to reduce surface reflections, but it lacks flocking. Many of the original Canon lens hoods are made like without flocking, and I think this one is not an exception. Flocking is a black, velvet-like material that further reduces reflections, and it's found on some hoods for the best lenses. I am not sure whether it is needed for this lens. Moreover, flocking has to be cleaned occasionally, and it could wear out.

Excellent low cost alternative to the one Canon only sells as an extra add-on
Fits easily on my Canon RF100-400mm f5.6-8 using the built-in bayonet hood connector in forward (provides a hood) and reverse mode (no hooding but easily accessible). It's much cheaper than the lens hood Canon doesn't provide with the lens but sells as an add-on much more expensive than this. On one hand, I have six glass RF lenses the Canon hood is a tiny add-on cost over the $700 lens this is for alone and minimal relative to the cost of all my lenses but given that 4 of my lenses came with hoods, the cost of adding them to the two that don't seems a bit of a sting as individual Canon add-ons, so I bought this instead. On a simple test there is no evidence of the physical hood present in-frame at any focal length of the lens zoom and also no evidence of any vignetting at any focal length of the lens on a full-frame R series camera. So, I'm happy with the improvement in my lens capability at low-cost for the individual component.

Well mad and fits good.
Really nice lens hood. Fits well on my Canon RF 100-400 lens. There is a small button on the back of the hood that you press to release the hood to remove it. I almost overlooked it and tried to force it off. Well made.

Excellent
Itโs a great lens hood so far. It does everything the lens hood that should have come with the lens would have done if Canon had included it. Highly recommend it over the Canon one since itโs cheaper and high quality. It locks in with a satisfying click, and holds up to some bumps, scrapes, etc. blocks the sun, keeps some dust off my lens, feels sturdy.

A very good lens hood.
It arrived sooner than expected. This lens hood is well made and fits perfectly. To attach you just align the red dots and turn. It clicks to lock and is unlocked by pushing a button and turning in the opposite direction. It can also be mounted backwards for storage. I'm very happy with this purchase.
