These clamps aren't adjustable and my desk isn't as thick as it needs to be, so I've had to do some work to get it secure on my desk. The ropes are fully adjustable to enable you to move the hammock up and down. I find this really comfortable whether in a relaxed /higher position or (as in most of the time) the lower position while I'm working. Really good product.
